The Device Scheduler automates the recording process for registered devices using Software Capture for PC and Apple applications and the Hardware Hub within the Admin Panel. Learn about registering Software Capture for PC, Software Capture for Apple, or the Hardware Hub.
Accessing the Device Scheduler
The steps below allow you to access the Device Scheduler within the Admin Panel.
- Log in to the Video Platform as an Administrator.
- Click on the Main Menu icon and select the Admin Panel option.
- On the left navigation menu, choose the Devices tab.
- Clicking on any device name reveals all the available tools for the Device Scheduler.
Starting an Impromptu Session
Within the Devices tab, the admins can remotely start an impromptu session for any registered device.
- Click on any device's name to reveal all the available tools from the Device Scheduler.
- If the device is online, click the Start Impromptu Session button.
- Enter the Capture Title for your recording, edit additional settings, and click Start Session.
- Capture Description: Add a description for the recording.
- Session Owner: Select the owner of the recording.
- Save Location: Select the save location of the recording.
- Publish Location: The Course Channel to which the recording will be published.
- Disable Auto Captioning: Check to disable auto-captioning for the session.
- Device Profile: Select a specific profile for the recording. Learn how to create a device profile for Software Capture or Hardware Hub.
- Length: Select how long the recording will last. More time can be added once the recording starts through the Device Scheduler menu.

Livestream Security Settings (Advanced Options): You may restrict access to the live stream and interactions with the live chat. Note: the device profile selected must have live streaming enabled for this option to be available.

Live Chat Settings: Choose how viewers can interact with the live chat.
- Disable: Live chat will be disabled.
- Platform Authentication: Viewers authenticated through the Video Platform can interact with the live chat. Those who are not authenticated can only view the live chat.
- Public: Anyone with a direct link or embedded code can interact with the live chat.

Link Security: Choose to restrict access to the live stream.
- Password or Authentication Restriction: Add a simple password or request a login through the Video Platform to access the stream.
- IP Range and Address Restriction: Enter an IP address. Only those with the same IP address will be able to access the stream.
- Location Restriction: Set a country and a region. Only those within the region will be able to access the stream.
- Domain Restriction: Enter a valid domain. Only those with the domain link will be able to access the stream.

Live Chat Settings: Choose how viewers can interact with the live chat.
- Enable Live Stream: Choose whether this session is a recording or a live stream.
- Send Copy of Schedule: Select additional users to copy this session to their personal calendar.
Scheduling Sessions
The Device Scheduler allows Administrators to schedule sessions for any registered devices.
- From the Device Scheduler, select the Schedule Session button.
- Fill out all the information for the session as shown below.
- Capture Title: Title of the session.
- Capture Description: Description of the session.
- Session Owner: The user's name to whom this session belongs to.
- Save Location: The folder to save the recording for the Session Owner.
- Publish Location: The Course Channel to which the recording will be published.
- Disable Auto Captioning: Check to disable auto-captioning for the session. If enabled, live auto-captions appear one minute after the live stream begins.
- Device Profile: Select a specific profile for the recording. Select a specific profile for the recording. Learn how to create a device profile for Software Capture or Hardware Hub.
- Date and Start Time: Select the date and time for the session.
- Length: Select how long the recording will last. More time can be added once the recording starts through the Device Scheduler menu.
- Enable Live Stream: Choose whether this session is a regular or a live stream session.

Repeat: Choose if you'd like this session to repeat. If yes, fill out the information in Repeat Details.

Repeat Details: Enter the frequency of the recurring session.
- Repeat Frequency: Select if you would like the recording to be scheduled daily or weekly.
- Repeat Interval: Select how often the frequency will occur.
- Repeat Days: Add the days you would like for the scheduled recording to appear.
- End Condition: Select when recordings should stop being scheduled. Select a specific date, or add after how many occurrences recordings will stop being scheduled.

- Create Placeholder: Creates a thumbnail of the recording to where it will be published. Once the session has been successfully recorded, the video will be added to the thumbnail.
- Once done, click the Add to Schedule button to save the session to the schedule.
To schedule multiple recordings at once, use Import Schedule to upload an XML file.
