Instructors with Canvas accounts integrated with Pearson or Aleks can embed their third-party assignments directly into Canvas with YuJa Verity enabled. Note: If your third-party tool is not integrated with Canvas, you can still proctor the assessment by following our guide on How to Proctor a Third-Party Assessment with YuJa Verity.
Creating a Proctored Third-Party Assignment
Before proceeding with the steps below, please ensure you have created your assessment using the third-party tool.
- Log in to Canvas and navigate to the Assignments section for your desired course.
- Click + Assignment.
- From the Submission Type drop-down menu, select External Tool.
- Click Find.
- Choose the third-party application and then select your assignment or quiz.
- Click Select.
- Next, click Save.
- On the next page, click Edit Assignment Settings.
- Scroll down, and check YuJa Verity Test Proctoring Platform.
- Click Configure Settings to access proctor settings for Verity.
- Select the platform you'd like to enable and click Next. Note: If you have an existing proctoring profile that you'd like to apply, you may do so by selecting the Click here link.
- Automated Proctoring: Offers standard proctoring features through the Verity browser extension within compatible browsers. This mode may also be used within the Lockdown App.

Lockdown App: Offers additional security features that can be applied to safeguard the integrity of quizzes.
- Mobile Lockdown App: If selected, only standard proctoring features will be available to allow assessments to be taken on the Verity Mobile App.

Select which configurations you would like enabled and click Next to continue. For more information on Verity's configurations, please refer to our guide on YuJa Verity's Quiz Restrictions.
- Select your desired proctoring method and click Next to continue.
- Automated Proctoring (No Live): Test-takers will not be monitored during their assessment.
- Live Check-In: Proctors can join and view a test-taker's environment when issues are flagged. This additional add-on feature will only be available upon your institution's request.
- If necessary, you can allow individual students to take the assessment without being proctored by selecting the Plus icon next to their name and then click Next to continue.
- Optional: You may also choose to apply a specific proctoring profile to exempted students by selecting the three vertical dots and clicking Apply Profile.
- Finally, review your settings and click Confirm. You can now publish your assignment for students. Once assignments are completed, you can review them by accessing the Verity Results table. Tip: To save these settings for future assessments, click Save as Profile.
