Instructors can use YuJa Verity to establish a secure, proctored environment for assessments created in third-party assessment tools. Note that for Canvas users, Verity supports embedding Pearson and Aleks assessments as assignments. To learn more, please visit our guide on Embedding a Proctored Third-Party Assessment in Canvas.
Applying Proctor Settings for a Third-Party Assessment
Before proceeding with the steps below, please ensure that you've created an assessment using a third-party tool.
- Log in to your Learning Management System (i.e. Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle), and navigate to the Verity LTI app.
Note: Please ensure you have authenticated yourself on the Verity LTI app. - Within the Automated Proctoring page, select the Automated Assessments tab.
- Click Add Third-Party Assessment.
- Enter the assessment information and click Submit. The assessment information include:
- Assessment Name: The name of your assessment.
- Assessment URL: The assessment link provided by the third-party tool.
- Assessment Password: Enter a password of your choice.
- In the Setup Proctoring modal, click Next.
- Select your desired proctoring method and click Next to continue.
- Automated Proctoring (No Live): Test-takers will not be monitored during their assessment.

Live Proctors: Proctors will monitor the test-takers during a scheduled proctoring session.
Note: If you select Live Proctors, you will see an additional Live Sessions step in your progress bar, and you can schedule your live sessions in the next step. - Live Check-In: Proctors can join and view a test-taker's environment when issues are flagged.
- Select the platform you'd like to enable and click Next.
- Automated Proctoring: Offers standard proctoring features through the Verity browser extension within compatible browsers. This mode may also be used within the Lockdown App.
- Lockdown App: Offers additional security features that can be applied to safeguard the integrity of quizzes.
- Mobile Lockdown App: If selected, only standard proctoring features will be available to allow assessments to be taken on the Verity Mobile App.
- Select which configurations you would like enabled and click Next to continue. For more information on Verity's configurations, please refer to our guide on YuJa Verity's Quiz Restrictions.
- If necessary, you can allow individual students to take the assessment without being proctored by selecting the Plus icon next to their name. Then click Next to continue.
Note: You can choose to apply a specific proctoring profile to exempted students by selecting the three vertical dots and clicking Apply Profile. - Review your settings and click Confirm. Once quizzes are completed, you can review them by accessing the Verity Results table.
Note: If you'd like to save these settings for future assessments, click Save as Profile.
