Releasing a poll allows participants to join and answer questions. You can release the entire poll at once, allowing participants to complete questions at their own pace within the allocated time, or release questions one at a time. Additionally, you can schedule the poll for automatic sharing with participants at the specified time.
Releasing an Entire Poll
- Log in to Engage.
- In the side navbar, select Activities.
- Locate the poll you want to release. In the Actions column, click the Actions button > Release.
- Click Edit.
- Select the Configuration tab to configure your poll settings before releasing it. You can customize options, including:
- Participant Restrictions: Choose who can take the poll.
- Record Poll Attempts: Choose to record all attempts or only the most recent attempt.

LMS Grade Book Sync: Choose to send the participants' first, most recent, or highest-score attempt to the grade book.
Note: Make sure you have integrated Engage with your learning management system (Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle) - Poll Attempts: Enable Unlimited Attempts to allow participants to retake the poll as many times as they like.

Show Correct Answer: Enable Show Correct Answers to show the correct answer to participants after they complete the poll.
- Click Save Changes.
- (Optional) To edit a question before releasing the poll, click the question and edit the text.
- (Optional) To add a question before releasing the poll, click the + Add Question.
- To share your poll with participants before releasing, click Share. Share your poll using one of the two options:
- Join Code: Copy the 6-digit poll code to share with participants. They can enter the code on Engage to access the poll.
- Poll Link: Click the Link button to obtain a direct link to the poll to share with participants. They can use the link to access the poll.
- QR Code: Click on the QR code to download it as a PNG image. Participants can scan the QR code to access the poll.
- After all participants have joined the poll, click Release Poll.
- Click Release All Questions.
- Click Release.
- To finish the poll, click Finish. View the results in Grade Book.
Releasing a Single Question

- Click Edit.

- Click Release Poll.
- Click Release Question by Question.
- Select the question you want to release.
- Click Release Q# (e.g., Q1) to release the question.
Note: You can stop sharing the poll with participants at any time by clicking the Stop Poll button. This will automatically record the answers that participants have answered. - To release the next question, click the Next and Previous buttons and select a new question to release. Repeat step 13 to release the question.
- To finish the poll, click Finish. View the results in Grade Book.
Scheduling a Poll
You can schedule polls for participants to complete asynchronously within a specified time period. Before scheduling a poll, make sure you have created a poll.
- Log in to Engage.
- In the side navbar, select Activities.
- Locate the poll you want to release. In the Actions column, click the Actions button > Release.
- Click Edit.
- Select the Configuration tab to configure your poll settings before releasing it. You can customize options, including:
- Participant Restrictions: Choose who can take the poll.

- (Optional) To modify the poll schedule after releasing the poll, click Update Release Schedule to change the scheduled date and time.
