Releasing a poll allows participants to join and answer questions. You can release the entire poll at once, allowing participants to complete questions at their own pace within the allocated time, or release questions one at a time. Additionally, you can schedule the poll for automatic sharing with participants at the specified time.
Releasing an Entire Poll
- Log in to YuJa Engage, or access it through your Learning Management System (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle) with the Engage LTI link in your course.
- Select Activities from the side navigation menu.
- Locate the poll you'd like to release. Click the Actions icon > Release.
- Click the Activity Settings tab in the side panel to configure your poll setting before releasing it. You can customize options, including:
- Participant Restrictions: Select the option for participants to join the poll, such as allowing all participants to join, requiring them to log in to Engage, entering their names before joining, or only allowing course members to join.
- Record Poll Attempts: Choose to record all attempts or only the most recent attempt.
- LMS Grade Book Sync: If your institution has integrated YuJa Engage with its LMS (Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle), you can choose to send the participants' first, most recent, or highest-score attempts to the grade book.
- Maximum Attempts: Enable Allow unlimited attempts to allow participants to retake the poll as many times as they like.
- Correct Answer: Enable Show correct answers to participants to show the correct answer to participants after they complete the poll.
- Click Save Settings to save your changes.
- (Optional) To edit a question before releasing the poll, click the desired question and edit it in the side panel.
- (Optional) To add a question before releasing the poll, click the Question Builder tab in the side panel. Then click Add Question Now.
- To share your poll with participants before releasing, click the Analytics tab in the side panel and expand the How to Join the Activity drop-down panel. You can then share your polls using options including:
- QR Code: Click on the QR code to download it as a PNG image. Participants can then scan the QR code to access the poll.
- Poll Code: Copy the 6-digit poll code to share with participants. They can enter the code to enter the poll on Engage.
- Direct Link: Click the Link button to obtain a direct link to the poll to share with participants.
- Expand the Waiting for Participants to Join drop-down panel to view the participants who have joined the poll.
- After all participants have joined the poll, click Release Poll.
- In the Release Poll window, select Release Now as the Release Options and select the Time Options for your poll.
- Click Release Poll.
Note: Once the poll is completed, you can view their responses and analytics in the Analytics panel.
Note: You can stop sharing the poll with participants at any time by clicking the Stop Poll button. This will automatically record the answers participants have provided so far.
Releasing an Individual Question
- Log in to YuJa Engage, or access it through your Learning Management System (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle) with the Engage LTI link in your course.
- Select Activities from the side navigation menu.
- Locate the poll you'd like to release. Click the Action icon > Release.
- Click the Activity Settings tab in the side panel to configure your poll setting before releasing it. You can customize options including:

Note: You can stop sharing the poll with participants at any time by clicking the Stop Poll button. This will automatically record the answers participants have provided so far. - To release the next question, click View all questions and select a new question to release.
Note: You can also use the Next and Previous navigations to switch between questions.
Note: Once the poll is completed, you can view their responses and analytics in the Analytics panel.
Scheduling a Poll
You can schedule asynchronous polls for participants to complete within a specified timeframe. Make sure you have created a poll before scheduling.
- Log in to YuJa Engage, or access it through your Learning Management System (Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle) with the Engage LTI link in your course.
- Select Activities from the side navigation menu.
- Locate the poll you'd like to release. Click the Action icon > Release.
- Click the Activity Settings tab in the side panel to configure your poll setting before releasing it. You can customize options including:
- Participant Restrictions: Select the option for participants to join the poll, such as allowing all participants to join, requiring them to log in to Engage, entering their names before joining, or only allowing course members to join.

- Click Release Poll.
- In the Release Poll window, select Schedule Poll.
- Under Time Options, select the Start Date and End Date of the poll, and the time for participants to complete the poll.
- (Optional) To send a scheduled email to participants in your course before the poll is released, expand the Email Notification drop-down menu and select when members will be notified: 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 1 day before the scheduled poll's release.
Note: You must select Allow only course members to join in Participant Restrictions and select a course in the Activity Settings tab from the side panel to enable this option. - Click Release Poll.
- (Optional) To modify the poll schedule after releasing the poll, Click Update Release Schedule to change the scheduled date and time.
