Creators can release polls to participants, allowing them to join and answer questions. The entire poll can be released at once, allowing participants to complete questions at their own pace within the allocated time, or creators can release questions one at a time.
Releasing an Entire Poll
- Log in to YuJa Engage or access it through your Learning Management System—Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle—via the Engage LTI link in your course.
- Select Polls from the left-side navigation menu.
- Locate the poll you'd like to release. Click the Action icon, and select Release.
- Before releasing the poll, you can adjust some settings. Click Poll Options to make the following adjustments:
- Record Poll Attempts: Choose to record all attempts or only the most recent.
- LMS Poll Attempts: If your institution has integrated YuJa Engage with its LMS (Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle), you may choose to send the participants' first, most recent, or highest-score attempts.
- Maximum Attempts: Check Allow unlimited attempts if you'd like participants to retake the poll as many times as they like.
- Correct Answer: Check this option if you'd like to show participants the correct answer after they have completed the poll.
- Participant Restrictions: Select how you'd like participants to join the poll, such as logging in to the Engage platform to join.
- Once you're finished, click Save.
- You can also perform the following optional actions:
- Points: By default, each question is worth 10 points. To adjust the points for each question, simply select a question and adjust the Points value.
- Question Builder: Add questions to your poll, or edit a question by selecting it.
- From the Analytics tab, the How to Join the Poll panel provides the following options to allow participants to join:
- QR Code: Click on the QR code to download it as a PNG image. Participants can then scan the QR code to access the poll.
- Poll Code: Participants can enter the 6-digit poll code.
- Direct Link: Creators can click the Link button to obtain a direct link to the poll to share with participants.
- As participants join the poll, they'll appear in the Activity Feed panel.
- Once all participants have joined, click Release Poll.
- Enter the total amount of time (in hours and minutes) that participants will have to complete the poll.
- Click Release Poll to allow participants to answer your questions. Once the poll is completed, you may review the Results and Feedback. Tip: You can stop sharing the poll with participants at any time by clicking the Stop Poll button. This will automatically record the answers participants have provided so far.
Releasing Individual Questions
- Log in to YuJa Engage or access it through your Learning Management System—Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle.
- Select Polls from the left-side navigation menu.
- Locate the poll you'd like to release. Click the Action icon and select Release.
- Before releasing the poll, you can adjust some settings. Click Poll Options to make the following adjustments:
- Record Poll Attempts: Choose to record all attempts or only the most recent.
- LMS Poll Attempts: If your institution has integrated YuJa Engage with their LMS (Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle), you may choose to send the first, most-recent, or highest-score attempt by the participant.
- Maximum Attempts: check Allow Unlimited Attempts if you'd like to allow participants to retake the poll as many times as they like.
- Show Correct Answers to Participants: Check this option if you'd like to show participants the correct answer after they have completed the poll.
- Require Participants' Names when Joining: Checking this option requires participants to enter their names when joining the poll if they're not signed into Engage.
- Once you're finished, click Save.
- Optional: Use the Question Builder to add questions to your poll or edit a question by selecting it.
- From the Analytics tab, the How to Join the Activity panel provides the following options to allow participants to join:

- Once you're ready, select the question you'd like to release.
- You can adjust the number of Points the question is worth and the Timer for how long participants will have to answer the question.
- Click Release Question. Tip: You can stop sharing the question with participants at any time by clicking the Stop Question button. This will automatically record the answers participants have already provided.
- Once you're ready to release the next question, you can click View all questions and select a new one to release. Once all questions have been released, you can simply close the page or navigate to the Activity tab to access the Results. Tip: You can also use the Next and Previous buttons to switch between individual questions.
Scheduling Polls
You can schedule asynchronous polls for participants to complete within a specified timeframe. Please ensure you have created a poll before proceeding with the steps below.
- Log in to Engage and access the Activity page from the left-side navigation menu.
- Locate the poll you'd like to schedule and from the Actions icon, select Release. Note: Please ensure the Poll Status states Ready to Release. If the poll has already been released or is saved as a draft, you will not be able to schedule it.
- Before scheduling the poll, you can adjust some settings. Click Poll Options to make the following adjustments:
- Record Poll Attempts: Choose to record all attempts or only the most recent.
- LMS Poll Attempts: If your institution has integrated YuJa Engage with its LMS (Blackboard Learn, Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle), you may choose to send the participants' first, most recent, or highest-score attempts.
- Maximum Attempts: Check Allow unlimited attempts if you'd like participants to retake the poll as many times as they like.
- Correct Answer: Check this option if you'd like to show participants the correct answer after they have completed the poll.
- Participant Restrictions: Select how you'd like participants to join the poll, such as logging in to the Engage platform to join. Note: To send email notifications to course members, select Allow only course members to join.
- Once you're finished, click Save.

- Click Release Poll.
- Select Schedule Poll and then enter the following information:
- Start Date: The date and time the poll will be available to participants.
- End Date: The date and time the poll will close to participants.
- The time Participants will have to complete the poll: How much time participants will be given to complete the poll once they join.
- If the option to allow only course members to join was selected, you can select Email Notification and choose when members will be notified: 15 minutes, 20 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, or 1 day before the scheduled poll's release.
- Once satisfied with your options, click Release Poll.
- On the scheduled poll page, you'll be presented with a banner stating when the poll will be available. You can modify the Start Date, End Time, and length of the poll by clicking Update Release Schedule.
- Once you're satisfied with the release date, you will need to provide access to the poll. Share the QR Code, Poll Code, or Link to provide participants access to your scheduled poll.
