YuJa Verity allows instructors to create and administer proctored assessments to students, thereby safeguarding the integrity of assessments taken in their Learning Management System. To enable Verity for a Moodle Quiz, follow the steps outlined below.
Setting up a Proctored Quiz
YuJa Verity can only be enabled once you have created a Moodle Quiz. Please create your quiz and then follow the steps below to enable proctoring.
- Log in to Moodle as an instructor and navigate to the course where the quiz is located.
- Before enabling a proctored quiz, select the Verity link located in your course. Please note: If you cannot find the Verity link, please contact your institution admin to ensure Verity has been enabled for the course.
- In the User Introduction tab, to authenticate yourself, please follow the steps or watch our dedicated video. You'll be authenticated once steps 1, 2, and 3 are complete.
- Next, locate and select your quiz.
- Click the Gear icon located on the right side and select Edit settings from the drop-down menu.
- Scroll down to YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring and toggle on Enable YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring.
- YuJa Verity will automatically create a password under Extra restrictions on attempts to restrict access to the quiz without the Verity extension enabled. Students authenticated through the Verity extension will not require a password to take the quiz.
- Select the Proctoring Mode you wish to enable.
- Automated Proctoring: Offers essential proctoring features through the Verity browser extension within compatible browsers. This mode may also be used within the Lockdown App.
- Lockdown App: Offers additional security features that can be applied to safeguard the integrity of quizzes.
- Next, under Proctor Settings, select which of the following features you would like enabled.

Record Video: Record the student's quiz environment through their webcam.
- Strict Mode: Click on the Gear icon to enable strict mode for this setting. Students will be unable to continue their quiz if their recording device has disconnected.

Record Audio: Record the student's audio through their connected microphone.
- Strict Mode: Click on the Gear icon to enable strict mode for this setting. Students will be unable to continue their quiz if their recording device has disconnected.
- Record Web Traffic: Record the sites and URLs visited during the quiz.

Only One Screen: Students can only have one monitor connected.
- Strict Mode: Click on the Gear icon to enable strict mode for this setting. Students will be unable to continue their quiz if a secondary monitor has been connected.

Disable New Tab: Students will be unable to open tabs once the quiz has started.
- Add URL List: If this setting is enabled, click the Gear icon to add a list of URLs students will be allowed to access

Close Open Tabs: Students must close all tabs before beginning the quiz.
- Add URL List: If this setting is enabled, click the Gear icon to add a list of URLs students will be allowed to access
- Disabled Clipboard: Students won't be able to take screenshots or save them to the clipboard.
- Stop Session Recording: Students will be able to access the Stop Session Recording option from the Verity recording panel during a quiz.

ID Verification: Students must show their ID to the web camera. This will be recorded and can be viewed by those reviewing the quiz.
- Live Proctoring: Allow instructors and proctors to monitor students through a live feed.

Record Video: Record the student's quiz environment through their webcam.
- If the Lockdown App setting is selected, you'll have access to additional security features that can be applied.
- Hide Other Windows: Students will only be able to see the Lockdown App. All other applications will be hidden from view.
- Record Clipboard: Records the student's clipboard during the quiz.
- Record Keyboard: Records all keyboard inputs during the quiz.
- Disable Spellcheck: The browser's spellcheck will be disabled.
- Disable File Download: Students will not be able to download files, images, or webpages.
- Next, if necessary, you can allow individual students to access the quiz without Verity. These students will NOT be monitored when taking the quiz. To learn how to use this feature, please visit our support guide on Creating an Exempted Student List.
- Once all desired settings have been chosen, you have the option to save them for future use by checking Save these new proctoring settings as a new profile.
- Finally, check I understand, I will not be able to change settings once the exam has started. You may then add questions and save or publish the quiz. Once quizzes are completed, you can review them by accessing the Verity Results table.
