YuJa Verity allows instructors to create and administer proctored assessments to students, thereby safeguarding the integrity of assessments taken in their Learning Management System. To enable Verity for a Moodle Quiz, follow the steps outlined below.
Setting up a Proctored Quiz
YuJa Verity can only be enabled once you have created a Moodle Quiz. Please create your quiz and then follow the steps below to enable proctoring.
- Log in to Moodle as an instructor and navigate to the course where the quiz is located.
- Click the Verity LTI link to authenticate yourself.
- Next, locate and select your quiz.
- Click the Gear icon located on the right side and select Edit settings from the drop-down menu.
- Scroll down and expand YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring, select the Checkbox to create a proctored environment.
- Click Configure Settings. YuJa Verity will automatically create a password under Extra restrictions on attempts to restrict access to the quiz without the Verity extension enabled. Students authenticated through the Verity extension will not require a password to take the quiz.
- Select your desired proctoring method and click Next to continue.
- Automated Proctoring (No Live): Test-takers will not be monitored during their assessment.
- Live Proctors: Proctors will monitor the test-takers during a scheduled proctoring session.
- Live Check-In: Proctors can join and view a test-taker's environment when issues are flagged.
- If Live Proctors was NOT selected, please skip to step 10. Otherwise, click Add Session and fill in the following information for your live quiz:
- Name: Add a name for the session.
- Date and Time: Select the date and time the quiz will be available and when it will end.
- Duration: Select how much time test-takers will have to complete the quiz after they join.
- Capacity: Choose how many test-takers can register for this session.
- Select Proctor: Choose a user in the course with at least instructor-level access to proctor the live quiz. Alternatively, you may select Proctoring Group if your institution is partnered with Verity’s test proctoring groups.
- Create any additional sessions for the live quiz by repeating step 8, and then click Next.
- Select the platform you'd like to enable and click Next.
- Browser Extension: Offers standard proctoring features through the Verity Browser Extension within compatible browsers.
- Desktop Lockdown App: Offers additional security features that can be applied to safeguard the integrity of quizzes.
- Mobile Lockdown App: If selected, only standard proctoring features will be available to allow assessments to be taken on the Mobile Lockdown App.
- Select which configurations you would like enabled and click Next to continue. For more information on Verity's configurations, please refer to our guide on YuJa Verity's Quiz Restrictions.
- If necessary, you can allow individual students to take the assessment without being proctored by selecting the Plus icon next to their name. Then click Next to continue.
Note: You can choose to apply a specific proctoring profile to exempted students by selecting the three vertical dots and clicking Apply Profile.
- Review your settings and click Confirm. If you created a Live Proctor quiz, test-takers must register for a session. Once quizzes are completed, you can review them by accessing the Verity Results table.
Note: If you'd like to save these settings for future assessments, click Save as Profile.
