YuJa Verity allows instructors to create and administer proctored assessments to students, thereby safeguarding the integrity of assessments taken in their Learning Management System. To enable Verity for a Moodle Quiz, follow the steps outlined below.
Setting up a Proctored Quiz
YuJa Verity can only be enabled once you have created a Moodle Quiz. Please create your quiz and then follow the steps below to enable proctoring.
- Log in to Moodle as an instructor and navigate to the course where the quiz is located.
- Click the Verity LTI link to authenticate yourself.
- Next, locate and select your quiz.
- Click the Gear icon located on the right side and select Edit settings from the drop-down menu.
- Scroll down and expand YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring, select the Checkbox, and click Configure Settings. YuJa Verity will automatically create a password under Extra restrictions on attempts to restrict access to the quiz without the Verity extension enabled. Students authenticated through the Verity extension will not require a password to take the quiz.
- Select the platform you'd like to enable and click Next. Note: If you have an existing proctoring profile that you'd like to apply, you may do so by selecting the Click here link.
- Automated Proctoring: Offers standard proctoring features through the Verity browser extension within compatible browsers. This mode may also be used within the Lockdown App.
-
Lockdown App: Offers additional security features that can be applied to safeguard the integrity of quizzes.
- Mobile Lockdown App: If selected, only standard proctoring features will be available to allow assessments to be taken on the Verity Mobile App.
- Select which configurations you would like enabled and click Next to continue. For more information on Verity's configurations, please refer to our guide on YuJa Verity's Quiz Restrictions.
- Select your desired proctoring method and click Next to continue.
- Automated Proctoring (No Live): Test-takers will not be monitored during their assessment.
- Live Check-In: Proctors can join and view a test-taker's environment when issues are flagged. This additional add-on feature will only be available upon your institution's request.
- If necessary, you can allow individual students to take the assessment without being proctored by selecting the Plus icon next to their name and then click Next to continue.
- Optional: You may also choose to apply a specific proctoring profile to exempted students by selecting the three vertical dots and clicking Apply Profile.
- Finally, review your settings and click Confirm. Once quizzes are completed, you can review them by accessing the Verity Results table. Tip: To save these settings for future assessments, click Save as Profile.
