YuJa Verity allows instructors to create and administer proctored assessments to students, thereby safeguarding the integrity of assessments taken in their Learning Management System. To create a proctored quiz in D2L Brightspace, follow the steps outlined below.
Creating a Proctored Quiz
Before proceeding with the steps below, please ensure you have authenticated yourself. To learn how, please visit our guide on Authenticating Yourself on YuJa Verity.
- Within your D2L Brightspace course, click the Quizzes tab located in the navbar.
- Click New Quiz.
- From the list of options on the right side, enable YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring.
- Click Edit to access proctor settings for Verity.
- Select your desired proctoring method and click Next to continue.
- Automated Proctoring (No Live): Test-takers will not be monitored during their assessment.
- Live Proctors: Proctors will monitor the test-takers during a scheduled proctoring session.
- Live Check-In: Proctors can join and view a test-taker's environment when issues are flagged.
- If Live Proctors was NOT selected, please skip to step 8. Otherwise, click Add Session and fill in the following information for your live quiz:
- Name: Add a name for the session.
- Date and Time: Select the date and time the quiz will be available and when it will end.
- Duration: Select how much time test-takers will have to complete the quiz after they join.
- Capacity: Choose how many test-takers can register for this session.
- Select Proctor: Choose a user in the course with at least instructor-level access to proctor the live quiz. Alternatively, you may select Proctoring Group if your institution is partnered with Verity’s test proctoring groups.
- Create any additional sessions for the live quiz by repeating step 6, and then click Next.
- Select the platform you'd like to enable and click Next.
- Browser Extension: Offers standard proctoring features through the Verity Browser Extension within compatible browsers.
- Desktop Lockdown App: Offers additional security features that can be applied to safeguard the integrity of quizzes.
- Mobile Lockdown App: If selected, only standard proctoring features will be available to allow assessments to be taken on the Mobile Lockdown App.
- Select which configurations you would like enabled and click Next to continue. For more information on Verity's configurations, please refer to our guide on YuJa Verity's Quiz Restrictions.
- If necessary, you can allow individual students to take the assessment without being proctored by selecting the Plus icon next to their name. Then click Next to continue.
Note: You can choose to apply a specific proctoring profile to exempted students by selecting the three vertical dots and clicking Apply Profile.
- Review your settings and click Confirm. If you created a Live Proctor quiz, test-takers must register for a session. Once quizzes are completed, you can review them by accessing the Verity Results table.
Note: If you'd like to save these settings for future assessments, click Save as Profile.
