Admins can integrate Engage into their Blackboard Ultra learning management system (LMS). The integration allows polls to be created, published, and graded directly to Blackboard Ultra courses and viewed by admins, instructors, and students. If you have any questions regarding the steps in this process, please contact your dedicated Client Success Manager.
Integrating Engage into Blackboard
Before integrating Engage into Blackboard, make sure you have received your Client ID from your Client Success Manager.
- Log in to Blackboard Ultra as an admin.
- In the side navbar, select Admin.

In the Integrations section, select LTI Tool Providers.
- Select the Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool tab.
- In the Client ID field, enter the client ID provided by your Client Success Manager.
- Click Submit. The fields will automatically populate.
- Make a note of the fields as shown below. They will be required in future steps.
- Client ID
- Default Deployment ID
- Tool Redirect URLs
- Click Submit.
Managing the LTI Tool Placement
After integrating the Engage LTI tool for Blackboard Ultra, you can manage the placement of the tool to allow instructors and students to access Engage for their courses.
- Log in to Blackboard Ultra as an admin.

In the side navbar, select Admin.
- In the Integrations section, select LTI Tool Providers. You will be directed to the LTI Tool Providers list.

Locate the newly added Engage tool and click the drop-down arrow.
- Select Manage Placements.

Click Create Placement.

Enter the information as shown below. The course tool will allow instructors to access Engage within Blackboard Ultra.

- Label: Any name you choose that helps identify the tool.
- Handle: Any name you choose that helps identify the tool.
- Availability: Select Yes.
- Type: Select Course Tool and Allow student access.
- Target Link URL: Enter the Tool Redirect URL noted in Integrating Engage into Blackboard.

Tool Provider Custom Parameters:

- Click Submit.
- Click Create Placement.
- Enter the information as shown below. The Deep Linking Content Tool will allow instructors to post published activities within their course.
- Label: Any name you choose that helps identify the tool.
- Handle: Any name you choose that helps identify the tool.
- Availability: Select Yes.
- Type: Select Deep Linking Content Tool and Allow student access.

Target Link URL: Enter the Tool Redirect URL noted in Integrating Engage into Blackboard.

- Click Submit.
Configuring the Engage API
Once you have added Engage to Blackboard Ultra, you will be required to configure the Engage API to allow for data transfer between Blackboard and Engage. Make sure your Client Success Manager has provided you with your ISS, OIDC Endpoint, JWKS Endpoint, and OAuth2 Token Endpoint.
- Log in to Engage as an admin using your zone URL.
- Example: evergreen.engage.yuja.com
- In the side navbar, select Integrations.
- In the Choose Integration Type drop-down menu, select LMS LTI 1.3.
- In the Select LMS drop-down menu, select Blackboard.

In the API Configuration section, enter the information as shown below.
- ISS: The Issuer provided by your Client Success Manager.
- Client Id: The Client ID copied in Integrating Engage into Blackboard.
- OIDC Endpoint: The OIDC endpoint provided by your Client Success Manager.
- JWKS Endpoint: The JWKS endpoint provided by your Client Success Manager.
- OAuth2 Token Endpoint: The OAuth2 token endpoint provided by your Client Success Manager.
- Deployment Id: The default Deployment ID.
- In the User Configuration and Course Configuration sections, turn on the toggles.
- Click Save Changes.
Adding Engage to a Course
Once the integration process is complete, Engage can be added to any course as an external tool.
- Log in to Blackboard Ultra as an admin or instructor and select your course.
- Select the Content tab.
- Click the + button.
- Select Content Market.
- Locate and select the YuJa Engage LTI link.
Note: The name of the tool may vary depending on your institution. - Create and release a poll or attendance within Blackboard Ultra.
- Navigate back to your course's Content Market and select the YuJa Engage Deep Linking Tool.
- Locate your activity and click the Actions button. As students complete activities, grades will be synced to Blackboard Ultra.
