Admins can integrate the YuJa Engage Platform into their Blackboard Ultra Learning Management System (LMS). The integration will allow activities to be created and published directly to desired courses and viewed by admins, instructors, and students. Integrating YuJa Engage for LTI 1.3
Before you start the steps below, please ensure you have received your Client ID from your Client Success Manager.
- Log in to Blackboard Ultra as an admin and click Admin in the left-hand navigation menu.

Under the Integrations panel, click LTI Tool Providers.
- Click Register LTI 1.3/Advantage Tool.
- In the Client ID field, paste the client ID provided to you by your Client Success Manager.
- Click Submit.
- The fields will automatically populate. You will need to make a note of the following fields as they will be required in future steps:
- Client ID
- Default Deployment ID
- Tool Redirect URLs
- Next, click Submit and move to the next section of this guide.
Managing the LTI Tool Placement
After integrating the YuJa Engage LTI tool for Blackboard Ultra, you can manage the placement of the tool to allow instructors and students to access YuJa Engage for their courses.
- Log in to Blackboard Ultra as an admin and click Admin in the left-hand navigation menu.
- Under the Integrations panel, click LTI Tool Providers.
- You will be directed to the LTI Tool Providers list, where you can locate the newly added Engage tool. Click on the drop-down arrow.
- From the menu, select Manage Placements.

Click Create Placement.

Enter the information as follows and then click Submit. The course tool will allow instructors to access YuJa Engage within Blackboard Ultra.

- Label: Any name of your choice (e.g., YuJa Engage Content Tool).
- Handle: Any name of your choice (e.g., YuJa Engage Content Tool).
- Availability: Yes.

Type: Course Tool.
- Allow student access.
- Target Link URL: Enter the Tool Redirect URL noted earlier.

Tool Provider Custom Parameters:
- person_sourcedid=$Person.email.primary
- lis_person_sourcedid=@X@user.id@X@

- Click Create Placement once more.
- Enter the information as follows and then click Submit to complete the integration process. The Deep Linking Content Tool will allow instructors to post published activities within their course.
- Label: Any name of your choice (e.g., YuJa Engage Deep Linking).
- Handle: Any name of your choice (e.g., YuJa Engage Deep Linking).
- Availability: Yes.
- Type: Deep Linking Content Tool.
- Allow student access.

Configuring the API for YuJa Engage
Once you've deployed YuJa Engage to Blackboard Ultra, you will be required to configure the YuJa Engage API to allow for data transfer between Blackboard and YuJa Engage. Before proceeding with the steps below, please ensure your Client Success Manager has provided you with your ISS, OIDC Endpoint, JWKS Endpoint, and OAuth2 Token Endpoint.
- Log in to YuJa Engage as an admin using your zone URL.
- Example: https://www.evergreen.engage.yuja.com
- From the left-side navigation menu, select Integration.
- From the Choose Integration Type drop-down menu, select LMS LTI 1.3 and then select Blackboard.
- Within the API Configuration panel, enter the following information:
- ISS: Obtained from your Client Success Manager
- Client Id: The Client ID noted earlier.
- OIDC Endpoint: Obtained from your Client Success Manager
- JWKS Endpoint: Obtained from your Client Success Manager
- OAuth2 Token Endpoint: Obtained from your Client Success Manager
- Deployment Id: Default Deployment ID
- Select all checkboxes under User Configuration and Course Configuration.
- Click Save Changes to complete the integration. Admins and instructors can now access YuJa Engage within Blackboard Ultra.
Accessing YuJa Engage within the LMS
Once the Engage LTI tool has been integrated, it will be available for admins and instructors to access from the Content Market for any selected course. For a complete guide on publishing polls for grade sync, please visit our support guide.
- Log in to Blackboard Ultra as an admin or instructor and navigate to the desired course.
- Click the Content tab and then click the Plus icon to reveal the Course Content drop-down menu. Next, select Content Market from the drop-down menu.
- Locate and click on the YuJa Engage Course Content Tool created earlier.
- This will allow you to access YuJa Engage to create and publish poll and attendance activities within Blackboard Ultra.
- Once an activity has been published, you can navigate back to the Content Market for your course and select the YuJa Engage Deep Linking Tool.
- This will allow you to post your activity to your course by clicking the Action icon. As students complete activities, grades will be synced to Blackboard Ultra.
