YuJa Verity allows instructors to create and administer proctored assessments to students, thereby safeguarding the integrity of assessments taken in their Learning Management System. To enable Verity for tests in Blackboard Original, follow the steps outlined below.
Setting Up a Proctored Test
To enable Verity, you must first create a test in Blackboard. Once you've created the test, follow the steps below.
- Log in to Blackboard as an instructor and navigate to the course where the test is located.
- Before enabling a proctored quiz, select the Verity link located in your course. It will most likely be located in the Content section. Please note: If you cannot find the Verity link, contact your institution admin to ensure Verity has been enabled for the course.
- In the User Introduction tab, please follow the steps or watch our dedicated video to authenticate yourself. You'll be authenticated once steps 1, 2, and 3 are complete.
- Once you have located your test, ensure that Edit Mode is enabled from the top-right corner.
- Next, click the drop-down arrow next to the test and select Edit the Test Options.
- Scroll down to YuJa Verity For Test Proctoring and enable YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring.
- Click Edit to access proctor settings.
- Select the Proctoring Mode you wish to enable.
- Automated Proctoring: Offers essential proctoring features through the Verity browser extension within compatible browsers. This mode may also be used within the Lockdown App.
- Lockdown App: Offers additional security features that can be applied to safeguard the integrity of tests.
- Next, under Proctor Settings, select which of the following features you would like enabled.
- Record Video: Record the student's test environment through their webcam.

- Disabled Clipboard: Students won't be able to take screenshots or save them to the clipboard.
- Stop Session Recording: Students will be able to access the Stop Session Recording option from the Verity recording panel during a test.
- ID Verification: Students must show their ID to the web camera. This will be recorded and can be viewed by those reviewing the test.
- Live Proctoring: Allow instructors and proctors to monitor students through a live feed.
- If Lockdown App is selected, you'll have access to additional security features that can be applied.

- Next, if necessary, you can allow individual students to access the test without Verity. These students will NOT be monitored when taking the test. To learn how to use this feature, please visit our support guide on Creating an Exempted Student List.
- If Disable New Tab or Close Open Tab were selected from the proctor Settings, you can list URLs for students to access specific websites. Check, Would you like to include URL links that students can open in a separate tab during a quiz?
- Then, paste a URL into the text field provided, and click Add.
- Once all desired settings have been chosen, you have the option to save them for future use by checking Save these new proctoring settings as a new profile.
- Finally, check I understand, I will not be able to change settings once the exam has started. You may then save or publish your test.
