YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring allows instructors to curate and assign proctored tests to students to ensure the security of tests taken from remote locations. Students can then access and take tests directly in their LMS. Please follow the steps below to learn how to create a Verity-enabled test in Blackboard Original.
Setting Up YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring
All first-time users will need to download the YuJa Verity browser plugin.
- To download the YuJa Verity plugin, access Blackboard through any one of the supported browsers for Verity: Google Chrome, Opera, Microsoft Edge, or Brave. For the most reliable proctoring session, we recommend using Google Chrome.
- In Blackboard, select the course you wish to create a test for and click Content from the navigation menu.
- Locate and click on the YuJa Verity LTI link.
- Click Link to install YuJa Verity Plugin to access the Chrome Web Store and download the plugin.
Setting Up a Proctored Test
YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring can only be enabled once you have created a test. Please create your test and then follow the steps below to enable test proctoring.
- Log in to Blackboard as an instructor and navigate to the course where the test is located.
- Click Contents and then click on the YuJa Verity LTI link to authenticate yourself before enabling Verity for your test.
- You'll be authenticated once you receive a Successfully Installed message. You may then return back to the Content page to locate your test.
- Once you have located your test, ensure that Edit Mode is enabled from the top-right corner.
- Next, click the drop-down arrow next to the test and select Edit the Test Options.
- Scroll down to YuJa Verity For Test Proctoring and click Enable YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring.
- Scroll down and select which of the following features you would like enabled.
- Record Video: Record the student's test environment through their webcam.
- Record Audio: Record the student's audio through their connected microphone.
- Record Web Traffic: Record the sites and URLs visited during the test.
- Only One Screen: Students can only have one monitor connected.
- Disable New Tab: Students will be unable to open tabs once the test has started.
- Close Open Tabs: Students must close all tabs before beginning the test.
- If enabled, instructors can list URLs for students to access specific websites. Paste a URL into the text field provided and click Add.

- Disable Clipboard: Students won't be able to take screenshots or save them to the clipboard.
- ID Verification: Students must show their ID to the webcam. This will be recorded and can be viewed by those reviewing the test.
- Once you're ready to enable YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring, check I understand, I will not be able to change settings once the exam has started, and then click Submit.
Reviewing a YuJa Verity Proctored Test
As students complete their proctored tests, instructors can begin reviewing the attempts and submissions.
- Navigate to the Verity-enabled test you wish to view results for.
- Click on the drop-down arrow and select Edit the Test Options.
- Click View Verity Results.
- The Results table provides a list of all students who attempted the test.
- To narrow your results, click the filter adjustment icon to the left of the search bar.
- Select the filters you wish to view and click Apply.
- Under the View column, click View Details for any student to review the recorded proctored session.
- If ID verification was enabled for the exam, click View ID Verification to see the student's ID.
- Select the attempt you would like to review from the Select Attempt drop-down menu.
- Click Play Session to view the recording.
- Within the recording, instructors can review specific timestamps for flagged events.
