Verity allows instructors to create proctored assessments for test-takers within Moodle. To allow instructors and test-takers to access Verity, you must connect your Moodle account with Verity as an admin.
Adding YuJa Verity to Moodle
- Log in to Moodle as an admin, and click Site administration.
- Select Plugins tab from the top navbar.
- Under Activity modules, select External tool.
- Click Manage tools.
- Click Configure a tool manually.
- In the LTI Version field, select LTI 1.3.
- In the Public key type field, select Keyset URL.

- In the Custom Parameters field, enter each of the following parameters on a separate line:
- username=$User.username
- user_id=$User.id
- person_sourced_id=$Person.sourcedId
- full_name=$Person.name.full
- course_section_sourced_id=$CourseSection.sourcedId
- course_offering_sourced_id=$CourseOffering.sourcedId
- course_id=$Context.id
- course_name1=$CourseSection.title
- course_name2=$Context.title
- course_role=$Membership.role
- In the Tool configuration usage field, select Show in activity chooser and as a preconfigured tool.
- In the Default Launch Container field, select New Window and check the checkbox of Supports Deep Linking (Content-Item Message).
- Expand the Services section, and select the following settings:
- IMS LTI Assignment and Grade Services: Use this service for grade sync and column management.
- IMS LTI Names and Role Provisioning: Use this service to retrieve members' information as per privacy settings.
- Tool settings: Use this service.
- Expand the Privacy section, and select the following settings:
- Share launcher's name with tool: Always.
- Share launcher's email with tool: Always.
- Accept grades from the new tool: Always.
- Check Force SSL.
- Click Save Changes.
- You should be automatically redirected back to the Manage tools page. Scroll down to the Tools section and locate your newly created tool named YuJa Verity.
- Click the Magnifying Glass icon to open Tool configuration details.
- In the Tool configuration details window, copy the details from each bullet on your screen and send them to your Account Manager to complete the integration process.
Enabling Verity for Your Courses
Once your Client Success Manager has completed the integration process, you can enable the Verity LTI link for your courses.
- Log in to Moodle as an admin, and select the course you wish to add the Verity LTI link to.
- Toggle on Edit mode next to your profile icon.
- Expand the section that you want to add Verity to, then click + Add an activity or resource.
Note: Depending on your version of Moodle, the button to add an activity or resource may be different from the image shown. - Locate and select YuJa Verity.
Note: The modal opens automatically to the Starred page. If you cannot find YuJa Verity, navigate to the Activities tab, you should be able to see all activities in your Moodle instance and locate YuJa Verity there. - In the Activity name field, enter the name you want Verity to be displayed in your course.
- Click Save and display.
- You will be directed to the YuJa Verity link to authenticate yourself.
Note: All users must authenticate themselves before being able to access Verity.
Integrating the LMS Visualizer
As an admin, you can install the LMS Visualizer within Moodle to monitor the Verity Browser extension. With the LMS Visualizer, test-takers will be guided to download the Verity Browser Extension before accessing the assessment. They will not be able to access the assessment unless the Browser Extension is installed.
Before you start, make sure you have set up your Verity integration.
- Locate and click the YuJa Verity LTI link in your Moodle environment.
- Within Verity, select Settings > Integration Settings from the side navbar.
- Select LMS Visualizer in the Select Integration drop-down menu.
- Click Download Visualizer.
- Copy and make a note of the information in the Verity Institute ID and Environment fields. They will be required in the steps later.
- Within Moodle, click Site administration.
- Click Plugins > Install plugins.
- Click Choose a file or drag and drop to upload the Visualizer file.
- (Optional) If you have clicked Choose a file..., click Choose File in the pop-up window, select the Visualizer file, then click Upload this file.
- Click Show more.
- From the Plugin type drop-down menu, select Local Plugin (local).
- Click Install plugin from the ZIP file.
- Click Continue.
- Once all server checks have passed, scroll down and click Continue to complete the plugin installation process.
- Click Site administration > Plugins.
- Locate the Verity section and select Verity for Moodle Settings.
- Enter the information copied from Verity previously in the Institute ID and the Verity Environment fields from step 5.
- Click Save changes. Your Moodle instance will now check for the Verity Browser Extension before test-takers start a Verity proctored assessment.
