Taking a Verity Proctored Assessment

To start your proctored assessment, you will need to access your Learning Management System (LMS), such as Blackboard, Canvas, D2L, Brightspace, or Moodle, through the Verity Lockdown App or Verity Browser Extension in a supported browser. For best performance, we recommend using Google Chrome or the Verity Lockdown App to complete your assessment.

Accessing a Proctored Assessment with the Verity Browser Extension

Before accessing the assessment in Verity, make sure you have downloaded the Verity Browser Extension and are authenticated on Verity.
Important: If you're using a Chromebook, ensure that you are on a managed guest session set up by your institution. Otherwise, please use a Windows or Mac device. 

  1. Log in to your LMS through a supported browser, and click the Verity link located in your course. To locate Verity for your specific LMS, please visit our guide on Accessing Verity from Your LMS.
  2. Within the Assessment Hub, locate your desired assessment and click Start.
    Note: If you are retaking a proctored assessment, click Reattempt instead.

  3. Read over the Privacy and Academic Integrity Agreement, then check I understand the information provided above.
  4. Click Next.

  5. Certain restrictions will be applied to your proctored assessment. Resolve any outstanding requirements and click Next.

  6. During the System Check, you might be required to set up your camera and microphone. If it is required, select your Video Source and Audio Source from the drop-down menu, then click Confirm.

  7. Next, if screen sharing is required, select the screen on which you will be taking your assessment.
  8. Toggle Also share system audio.
  9. Click Share.

  10. Click Next.

  12. Click Start Scan in the Room Scan window.

  13. Pan your webcam or laptop around to reveal a full 360-degree view of your room.
  14. After completing the scan, click End Scan.

  15. Review your Room Scan video to check if it meets the scanning requirements. Then, click Upload to upload your room scan.

  16. Click Next.

  17. If ID Check is required in your checks, hold up your institution or government-issued ID card to the webcam, click Take Photo, and then click Next.

  18. To complete the face verification, position your face to the webcam, click Take Photo, and then click Next.

  19. Once you are satisfied with your photos, click Upload.

  21. Certain limits will be applied to your proctored assessment. After resolving any outstanding requirements, click Next.

  22. Click Start Assessment to start your proctored assessment.

Submitting a proctored assessment in your learning management system will allow Verity to automatically end the proctoring session. Learn more about ending the Verity proctoring session for your assessment.

 

Accessing a Proctored Assessment with the Desktop Lockdown App

Before accessing the assessment in Verity, make sure you have downloaded the Verity Lockdown App.

  1. Launch the Desktop Lockdown App on your device.

  2. Log in to your LMS through a supported browser, and click the Verity link located within your course.
    Note: If you cannot find the Verity LTI link, please reach out to your instructor.
  3. Within the Assessment Hub, locate your desired assessment and click Start.
    Note: Click Reattempt instead if you are retaking a proctored assessment.

  5. Click Next.
