As an admin, you can integrate Lumina into your Moodle Learning Management System (LMS). Before integrating Lumina, please ensure that you have full access Moodle as an admin. If you have any questions about the steps in this guide, please contact your dedicated Account Manager.
Before You Start
Receive the Tool URL, Public key type, Public keyset, Initiate login URL, and Redirection URI(s) from your CSM.
Setting up Lumina as an External Tool
- Log in to Moodle as an admin.
- Select the Site Administration tab.
- Select the Plugins tab.
- In the Activity modules section, click Manage Tools.
- Click configure a tool manually.

In the Tool settings section, enter the required information:
- Tool Name: Any name you choose that helps identify the tool, such as YuJa Lumina.
- Tool URL: https://<YourInstitutionURL>.yuja.com/LTI3Entry.jsp
- LTI version: Select LTI 1.3.
- Public key type: Select Keyset URL.
- Public keyset: https://<YourInstitutionURL>.yuja.com/P/Data/LTI3JwksJSONS
- Initiate login URL: https://<YourInstitutionURL>.yuja.com/LTI3LoginInit.jsp
- Redirection URI(s): https://<YourInstitutionURL>.yuja.com/LTI3Entry.jsp

Custom parameters:
- moodle_course_previous_context_ids=$Context.id.history
- lti_login_id=$User.username
- Tool configuration usage: Select Show in activity chooser and as a preconfigured tool.
- Default Launch Container: Select New Window.
- Select the Supports Deep Linking (Content-Item Message) checkbox.
- In the Services section, select the options:
- IMS LTI Assignment and Grade Services: Select Use this service for grade sync only.
- IMS LTI Names and Role Provisioning: Select Use this service to retrieve members' information as per privacy settings.
- Tool Settings: Select Use this service.
- In the Privacy section, select the options:
- Share launcher's name with tool: Select Always.
- Share launcher's email with tool: Select Always.
- Accept grades from the tool: Select Always.
- In the Miscellaneous section, enter the required information:
- Default organisation ID: Select Site hostname.
- Organisation URL: The organisation URL provided by your Account Manager.
- Click Save changes.
- Locate the YuJa Lumina tool and click the View configuration details button.
- Make note of the Tool configuration details. They will be required when configuring the Lumina API.
Configuring the Lumina API
Once you have added Lumina to Moodle, you will be required to configure the Lumina API to allow for data transfer between Moodle and Lumina.
- Log in to Lumina as an admin.
- Click the Main Menu button > Admin Panel.
- In the sidebar, select Integrations.
- From the Select Integration drop-down menu, select LMS via LTI 1.3.
- From the Choosing an LMS drop-down menu, select Moodle.
- In the API Configuration section, use the Tool configuration details noted in step 12 of the Setting Up Lumina as an External Tool section to enter the required information:
- ISS: Your Platform ID
- Client ID: Your Client ID
- OIDC Endpoint: Your Authentication Request URL
- JWKS Endpoint: Your Public keyset URL
- OAuth2 Token Endpoint: Your Access token URL
- Deployment ID: Your Deployment ID
- In the User Configuration and Course Configuration sections, select all the checkboxes.
- Click Save.
Note: When filling out the API Configuration fields, please ensure that there are no spelling mistakes, extra symbols, or spaces.
Adding Lumina to a Course
Once the integration process is complete, Lumina can be added to any course as an external tool.
- Log in to Moodle as an admin and select your course.
- Enable the Edit mode toggle.
- In the section you want to add Lumina, click Add an activity or resource or + > Activity or resource.
- Select YuJa Lumina.
Note: The name of the activity is the name you entered in step 6 of the Setting Up Lumina as an External Tool section. - In the Activity name field, enter the name you want the Lumina LTI link to appear as.
- Click Save and return to course. The Lumina LTI link will appear.
- Select the Lumina LTI link to access Lumina inside Moodle.
Using the Media Chooser in Moodle
Once the Media Chooser is integrated into Moodle, you can use the Media Chooser to upload videos or quizzes to Moodle. Learn more about Integrating the Media Chooser into Moodle.
- Log in to Moodle as an admin and select your course.
- Enable the Edit mode toggle.
- In the section you want to add the Media Chooser, click Add an activity or resource or + > Activity or resource.
- Select Media Chooser.
- Click Select Content. The Media Chooser will open.
- Select the Media or Quizzes tab.
- Select the video or quiz you want.
- Click Save and return to course or Save and display. Your video or quiz will now be available as an activity in Moodle.
