You can attempt a proctored assessment in YuJa Verity in a virtual machine environment.
To start your proctored assessment, you will need to access Verity in your learning management system (LMS), such as Blackboard, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, or Moodle, using the YuJa Verity Browser Extension in a supported browser or through the YuJa Verity Lockdown app. The extension can be added to your browser within your virtual machine, and the app can be downloaded within your virtual machine environment.
Taking a proctored assessment with the YuJa Verity Browser Extension in a virtual machine environment
Before you can access the assessment in YuJa Verity, please make sure you have downloaded the YuJa Verity Browser Extension and are authenticated on YuJa Verity within your virtual machine.
- Log in to your LMS on your virtual machine through a supported browser, such as Google Chrome, and click the YuJa Verity link located in your course. To locate YuJa Verity for your specific LMS, please visit our guide on accessing YuJa Verity from your LMS.

Within the Assessment Hub, locate the assessment you would like to take and click Start.
Note: If you are retaking a proctored assessment, click Reattempt instead. - You will be redirected to the assignment in the LMS. The pre-assessment check will open in an inline experience.

Click Start Assessment Check to begin the pre-assessment check.

Once the System Performance Check passes and Stable Internet Connection is verified, click Next.

If Incognito Mode is not enabled for the browser extension, YuJa Verity will prompt you to enable it. Once Incognito Mode is verified as enabled, click Next,
- Click Select Screen Source to open up a dialogue box that will allow you to share your screen.
- Select the Entire Screen tab to share your virtual machine's entire screen, and toggle on the Also share system audio option if your assessment requires the room audio.
- Click the blue Share button.

Once the dialogue box closes, click Next.

The screen recording, camera recording, and microphone recording will start. Click Next.

Select a video and audio source from the dropdown menu, or leave the default sources. Then, click Confirm.

If identity verification is required for your proctored assessment, click Take Photo to take a photo of your face. When you're satisfied with the photo, click Next.

If ID verification is required, click Take Photo to take a photo of your ID card. When you're satisfied with the photo, click Next.

Review the photos of your face and ID card. You may retake them, if necessary, by clicking Retake Photo. When you're satisfied with both photos, click Next.

Your screen will display which actions are limited based on the settings that your instructor configured. When you're ready to begin, click Start Assessment.
Submitting a proctored assessment in your learning management system will allow YuJa Verity to automatically end the proctoring session. Learn more about ending the YuJa Verity proctoring session for your assessment.
Taking a proctored assessment with the YuJa Verity Lockdown app in a virtual machine environment
Before accessing the assessment in YuJa Verity, make sure you have downloaded Verity Lockdown in your virtual machine environment.

Within the Assessment Hub, locate the assessment you would like to take and click Start.
Note: If you are retaking a proctored assessment, click Reattempt instead. -
A modal will pop up. Click Launch Lockdown App to open the Lockdown App in your virtual machine environment, or click Download Lockdown App and follow our guide for downloading the Verity Desktop Lockdown App if you haven't already done so on your virtual machine.

Once you click Launch Lockdown App, another modal will pop up. Click Open Verity Lockdown to launch the YuJa Verity Lockdown desktop app.

You will be directed to the pre-assessment check within the Lockdown App. Click Start Assessment Check to begin the pre-assessment check.
