YuJa Verity Assessment Builder Overview

Selecting the Verity Assessment option directs administrators to a streamlined assessment creation workflow for automatic LMS publication.  

The Assessment Builder hosts two different assessment types. 

• Quiz: A structured set of questions completed within the platform for quick evaluation.
• Assignment: An open-ended assessment where test-takers submit files like essays or papers. Test-takers can also submit handwritten assessments such as images or scans alongside digital work. 

• Multiple Choice: Ask a question with options to choose from.
• True or False: Provide a statement that is either true or false.
• Matching: Ask participants to match items together.
• Fill in the Blank: Provide a statement with blanks to fill in.
• Ordering: Test-takers will be required to order the answer options in the correct sequence. 
• Essay: Instructors can add essay questions to assessments, prompting test-takers to respond with open-ended written answers.

Here, administrators can configure their main assessment details in distinct dropdown menus. These include:

Course and Grade

• Select Course: Select a course to sync this assessment with.
• Sync With Gradebook: Choose to sync your LMS gradebook with YuJa Verity assessment results. 
• Points: Input the possible amount of point that test-takers can earn (only for assignments).

General Information

• Assessment Title: Input the assessment title.
• Assessment Description (Optional): Provide a description of the assessment to participants.

Availability and Timing

• Set Assessment Duration: Choose the total time a student has to complete the assessment.
• Assessment Due Date: Choose the date and time the assessment is due.
• Allow Late Submissions: Decide if students can still submit after the due date has passed.

Attempts and Submission

• Allow Multiple Attempts: Allow students to take assessments more than once.
• Score Publishing: Select which attempts should be synced to the Verity gradebook.
• Restrict File Formats: Select the file types that students are allowed to upload.

Add Instructions

Enter or upload your instructions below, and include any supporting media if needed. This action is optional, but you may also choose to attach files rather than writing in the text box. This feature is only for assignments.

This section of the Assessment Builder workflow allows administrators to select proctoring methods, grant access to resources, and add accommodations. 

Method

Select how test-takers will be monitored during their assessment. 

Profile

Select a preset proctoring restriction profile or create your own custom configuration. 

Platform

Select the platform where test-takers will complete their assessment.

• Browser Extension: Access standard proctoring features through a web browser extension. 
• Desktop Lockdown Module: Access advanced proctoring features requiring the Desktop Lockdown App for Windows and Mac. 
• Mobile Lockdown Module: Access core proctoring features using the Verity Mobile Lockdown Module for iOS and Android devices. 

Recording

Select and configure the proctoring features for this assessment based on your security requirements.

• Record Video: Test-taker’s camera will be recorded during the assessment.

  You can choose to check off the following configurations:

  • Allow test-takers to continue their assessment if this restriction is violated.
  • Detect Suspicious Objects, such as phones, within the test-taker’s environment.
  • Detect Additional People in the webcam view while the assessment is in progress.

  • Require Secondary Camera provides an additional angle of video coverage. Test-takers are required to have an additional camera or a mobile device as the secondary camera.

     

• Record Audio: Test-taker’s audio environment will be recorded during the assessment.

  You can choose to check off the following configurations:

  • Allow test-takers to continue their assessment if this restriction is violated.
  • Enable Quiet Environment to notify the test-taker if their surroundings are too loud. 

  • Create a transcript of the audio. 

     

• Record Screen: Test-taker must record their screen. 
• Room Scan: Test-taker must provide a 360-degree view of their environment.

Verification

Select and configure the proctoring features for this assessment based on your security requirements.

• ID Verification: Test-taker must capture and upload their ID and face before the assessment begins.
  • Enable AI ID Verification to automatically detect and verify the test-taker’s face and ID.
  • Allow test-takers to take their assessment regardless of AI ID verification result. 
• Signature Check: Test-taker must draw or type their signature before the assessment begins. The signature will need to be verified manually.

Additional Restrictions

Select and configure the proctoring features for this assessment based on your security requirements.

• Disable Virtual Camera: Test-taker will not be able to use any virtual cameras.
• Disable Clipboard: Test-taker will not be able to copy or paste items.
• Disable Printing: Test-taker will not be able to print. 
• Disable Right Click: Test-taker will not be able to use right click on their mouse or trackpad.
• Disable Browser Extensions: Test-takers will not be able to enable any browser extensions except the ones that are allowed.
  • Check off: Allow test-takers to continue their assessment if this restriction is violated

• Allow Browser Extensions: Select one or more browser extensions that test-takers are permitted to use during the assessment. You may also add custom extensions.

  

• Tab Restrictions: Manage how test-takers interact with browser tabs during the assessment.

  You can configure the following options for tab restrictions: 

  • Close Open Tabs to ensure all tabs are closed before the assessment, allowing only permitted websites.
  • Disable New Tabs to prevent test-takers from opening new tabs, except for permitted websites.
  • Record Web Traffic to record websites accessed through the Verity browser extension, except for permitted websites.
• Add Permitted Websites: Add a list of permitted websites that test-takers can use as resources during the assessment.
• Only One Screen: Test-taker must unplug additional displays to ensure only one screen is in use.
• Monitor Side Panel Activities: Test-taker’s activity in the browser’s side panel, such as using in-browser AI tools or browser extensions, will be monitored during the assessment.
• View Installed Browser Extensions: Enable instructors and proctors to review browser extensions installed on the test-taker’s device prior to the start of the assessment.

• Apply Location Limit: Test-takers must be within the selected area to take the assessment. 

  

Resources

Select and configure the proctoring features for this assessment based on your security requirements.

• Calculator: Test-taker will have access to a calculator during the assessment.
• Whiteboard: Test-taker will have access to a whiteboard during the assessment.
• Reference Material: Test-taker will have access to reference material during the assessment. You can upload your reference materials in this section. 

The review page displays your assessment details, test-takers, and accommodations in one place before confirmation.

Manage Accommodations

Accommodate test-takers by allowing them to take the assessment without proctoring or by modifying their proctoring configurations to suit their needs.

Note: Accommodated test-takers must still use Verity Lockdown App or the Browser Extension, unless the instructor has selected No Proctoring.
