Once you’ve installed the Software Capture for PC application, you’re ready to begin recording from your Windows PC. Your recording options can be customized to meet your needs, from Screen Capture to Live Streaming.
Accessing the Software Capture for PC Application
The Software Capture for PC application facilitates capture recording from any computer.
Starting your Recording
Once the Software Capture application launches, you can make any necessary changes to your recording devices before starting a session.
- Add a title to your recording.
- Software Capture provides adjustments to the following settings on the left-side menu:
- Video: Select your preferred video sources and adjust your resolution and video orientation.
- Audio: Select your preferred audio sources and adjust the audio gain and offset.
- Screen: Select your preferred display sources.
- Live: Enabling live recording to stream and save content on your Video Platform instance.
- Profile: Select your preferred recording profile.
- Session Settings: Join an existing distributed recording or host a recording for others to participate in.
- You can then select the My Media Collections icon to select a personal location on your Video Platform library to save the recording.
- You can also select a channel on the Video Platform to publish your recording by selecting the Media Channel icon. Note: A live stream must be published to a channel.
- Once satisfied with your recording devices, click the Start button to begin your capture.
- To end your recording, click Finish on the Software Capture for PC application, the Recording Toolbar, or by pressing Ctrl+Shift+F, the default hotkey sequence. The hotkey can be changed if desired.
- Once your recording has ended and you are satisfied with it, click Save to publish the recording into your My Media library. Optional: If you selected a channel to publish your recording, select Publish. This will automatically save your recording both to the selected channel and your My Media Library.
When you press the Start button, you’ll have three seconds before recording begins. Use this time to bring up your files or presentation material on-screen, if you’re capturing your screen. Proceed with your recording – try to speak clearly and naturally!
Using the Recording Toolbar
The Recording Toolbar provides an easy and moveable way on your screen, to pause or stop a Video Platform recording. To learn how to enable to Toolbar, please visit our guide on Configuring the Recording Toolbar. Below is a list of features the Toolbar offers.
- Press the Pause button to pause the Software Capture for PC application. Press Play when ready to resume recording.
- Select the Stop button to stop your recording.
- Switch your displayed audio source.
- Use the Annotation Toolbar.
- Click on the preview icon to show a preview of your video source.
- Click and drag the recording toolbar to another area on your screen.
