Assessment administrators can create a Blocked Applications List to prevent applications from running on students' devices during proctored sessions. Applications can be selected from the Application List, or assessment administrators can manually add applications they'd like to block.
Creating a Blocked Applications List
Before proceeding with the steps below, please ensure you're familiar with creating a proctored assessment within your LMS (Blackboard SaaS, Blackboard Ultra, Canvas, D2L Brightspace, Moodle).
- Navigate to Verity Options for the assessment for which you want to create a list.
- Select Block Applications and then select View List from the More Actions icon. Note: If you cannot select Block Applications, please ensure the Lockdown App is selected for Proctoring Mode.
- In the Application List, click the Plus icon next to the applications you'd like to block.
- Once you've added all your applications, click Save to complete the process.
Manually Adding an Application to the List
- Navigate to Verity Options for the assessment for which you want to create a list.
- Select Block Applications and then select View List from the More Actions icon. Note: If you cannot select Block Applications, please ensure the Lockdown App is selected for Proctoring Mode.
- Click Add Here.
- In the text box, enter the name of the application you wish to block as it appears in its install directory on your device, including any capitalization.
- Example: if you'd like to block the Brave Browser, enter brave in the text field.
- Click Add.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for any additional applications. Once satisfied with your list, click Save. You can then continue editing the Verity options for your assessment.
