YuJa CivicGuard Document Remediation Platform Overview

Below is an overview of the features available. 

• Dashboard: Upload and view recently uploaded documents. An Accessibility Meter will indicate each document's accessibility score at a glance.
• DocHub: A personalized repository for admins, instructors, and students to efficiently organize and store their files.
• AutoPilot: Automatically suggest fixes for detected accessibility issues in documents. 
• Reports:
  • AutoPilot Report: The overall usage of AutoPilot across your institution. 
  • DocHub Report: The overall usage of DocHub across your institution. 
  • Remediation Max Report: The overall usage of Remediation Max across your institution.
• Workflow: A built-in project management tool that allows institutions to organize and track accessibility improvements directly within CivicGuard.
• Configuration: Admins can adjust how CivicGuard is enabled across the institution.
  • General Settings: Access the institution settings, course settings, and user settings for CivicGuard.  
  • Scoring Model: Customize the accessibility scoring rubric to determine how accessibility scores are calculated across your institution. 
  • Roster Management: Manage user roles in CivicGuard.
  • Integration Settings: Manage the CivicGuard integration with your institution.
  • Branding Settings: Customize your CivicGuard's pages, accessibility icons, and how-to-fix guides to align with your institution's branding and accessibility requirements.
  • Institution Information: View information related to your institution, such as your CivicGuard Platform URL, institution ID, etc.
  • Modules: View the usage and credits available for your CivicGuard modules. You can contact your Account Manager to make any adjustments. 
• DocAssist: Request alternative document formats from YuJa accessibility experts. 
• Marketplace: Explore more products for your institution, including enterprise video management, assessment proctoring, lecture capturing, real-time student response system, and more.
• Activity: View past activities on your CivicGuard platform.

CivicGuard will generate Accessibility Scores for DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, PDF, HTML, GIF, XLS, XLSX, ODT, ODP, ODS, RTF file types, and editable HTML pages. 

Accessibility score icons are displayed next to each file type or at the top of HTML content. These icons use color coding to give you a quick visual summary of the accessibility score. Refer to the default accessibility score icons below to understand what each color indicates:

• Green hexagon icon: High accessibility scores
• Yellow triangle icon:  Medium accessibility scores
• Red pentagon icon: Low accessibility scores
• Grey prohibition icon: Your institution has disabled the alternative formats for this document
• Purple circle icon: The accessibility report is being processed. 

Note: As an admin, you can customize the accessibility icons and colors by navigating to Configurations > Branding Settings > Accessibility Icons. 

Accessibility Reports offer a comprehensive list of accessibility issues detected within files and provide actionable options to address and resolve issues for documents. 

1. Open the Accessibility Report by either: 
   • Clicking the Accessibility Score icon next to your file.
   • Within CivicGuard, select DocHub from the side navbar and click your desired file, then click Accessibility Report.
2. Click Fix This Document to view Remediation Options:
   • AI-Assisted Remediation With AutoPilot: Allow AutoPilot to apply automated fixes for accessibility issues within the report. 
   • Structural Remediation (with add-on purchase): Improve document structure reading order, and tagging for structural issues. 
   • Guided Remediation With Assistance: Get guided assistance with recommendations to resolve issues in this document.
   • Send To YuJa Accessibility Experts: Send this document to an accessibility expert for complete remediation. 
   • Replacing the document: Replace the original document with a more accessible version.

• Source File: View the document in its original format, suitable for download or viewing.
• PDF: View the document in PDF format, suitable for both online and download viewing.
• Text File: View the document in a pure text format without any formatting styles, suitable for both online and download viewing.
• Immersive Reader: Allows for customizations to text preferences, grammar options, and reading preferences while following along with the audio playback. 
• Gradient Reader: Enhances visual word recognition when reading by providing a guiding color gradient. 
• EPUB: View the document in the ebook format, suitable for any ebook reader application.
• Braille: View the document in the Braille grade 2 format, suitable for download viewing (a braille reader is required).
• Audio Podcast: Audio playback for documents, suitable for both online and download listening.
• Custom Formats: Enables students to request course materials in personalized formats created by instructors or YuJa's accessibility experts. 
• Enhanced HTML: HTML documents will be displayed in a dedicated tab to customize the document's appearance using the Website Accessibility tool.

• OCR: Convert images with text into machine-encoded text that can be searched and read by screen readers. 

  

  • OCR Overlaid Tagged PDF: Generate a tagged PDF that allows for selectable text overlaid on the original scanned document or image.
  • OCR Reconstructed PDF: Generate a brand new tagged PDF from the scanned document or image.
  • OCR Reconstructed HTML: Generate a new HTML file from scanned documents or images.
  • OCR Text: Recommended for those who prefer plain text, the OCR tool extracts and displays text within images and GIFs as a TXT file.
  • OCR Gradient Reader: Generate a new gradient reader file for OCR content. 
  • OCR Immersive Reader: Use the immersive reader for OCR content.
  • OCR Audio: Extract text within images and GIFs into an MP3 text-to-speech audio player.
