This document provides instructions on integrating the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform (EVP) into your Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). If you have any questions regarding any steps in this process, please contact your dedicated Customer Success Manager. To perform the integration, you need a YuJa Consumer Key, Shared Secret, and Zone URL which will be provided in your Zone Provisioning document.
Installing in All Courses or Select Course
There are two LMS installation options that you can choose from.
- Enable YuJa in All LMS Courses - This enables the YuJa EVP LTI tool by-default in all Canvas courses.
- Enable YuJa in Select Courses - This enables instructors and administrators to add the YuJa EVP LTI tool to specific courses.
Adding YuJa EVP as an External Tool for All Courses
The below steps will make the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform an LTI tool that can be accessed within all of your Canvas courses.
- Log into Canvas as an Administrator.
- From the Canvas navigation menu, click the Admin option and select the account of your Organization to add the YuJa EVP LTI tool.
- Select Settings from the Admin menu and navigate to the Apps tab.
- Click on View App Configurations and select Add App.
- Fill in the information below.
- Configuration Type: Paste XML
- Name: YuJa
- Consumer Key: Provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- Shared Secret: Provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- XML Configuration: Go to https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/P/LTI/Canvas/CanvasConfig.xml, then copy all the information on that page and paste it into this field.
- Click Submit once done.
- The YuJa EVP LTI tool is now available for all courses in your Canvas.
Adding YuJa EVP as an External Tool for Select Courses
The below steps will make the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform an LTI tool that can be accessed for certain courses.
- Log into Canvas either as an Administrator or an Instructor.
- Go to the desired course where you would like to add the YuJa EVP LTI tool to.
- Click Settings from the course menu and navigate to the Apps tab.
- Click on View App Configurations and select Add App.
- Fill in the information below.
- Configuration Type: Paste XML
- Name: YuJa
- Consumer Key: Provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- Shared Secret: Provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- XML Configuration: Go to https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/P/LTI/Canvas/CanvasConfig.xml, then copy all the information on that page and paste it into this field.
- Click Submit once done.
- The YuJa EVP LTI tool is now available for the selected course in Canvas.
Managing the YuJa EVP LTI Tool Position for Select Course's Navigation Menu
Instructors can easily change the YuJa EVP LTI tool position from their course's Navigation menu.
- Log into Canvas either as an Administrator or an Instructor.
- Go to the desired course where you would like to re-arrange the YuJa EVP LTI tool position.
- Click Settings from the course menu and go to the Navigation tab.
- Change the YuJa EVP LTI tool position by drag-and-drop the tool.
- Once done, click Save to apply all the changes.
Using the Media Chooser to Add Content to the Course
With the Media Chooser, Instructor can easily embed videos from the Video Platform into Canvas.
- Log into Canvas either as an Administrator or an Instructor.
- Go to the desired course where you would like to add new content to.
- Navigate to either Announcements, Assignments, or Discussions.
- Open the WYSIWYG text editor.
- Click on the Apps icon and select View All.
- Select YuJa Media from the list.
- Choose the content you would like to embed.
- Click Save and Publish once you are done to make the embedded content accessible to users.
Make YuJa Media Chooser a Primary Icon within Canvas
Administrators can make the Video Platform Media Chooser icon a primary item in the WYSIWYG Editor to allow for easy access.
- As an Administrator, log in to Canvas.
- From the Canvas navigation menu, click the Admin option and select the account of your Organization
- Select Settings from the Admin menu and navigate to the Apps tab.
- Within the External Apps page, click View App Configurations.
- Locate YuJa within the list of Apps and add the Media Chooser to the Rich Content Editor by enabling the toggle under Add to RCE toolbar.
- Once the Media Chooser is enabled as a Primary Icon in the Rich Content Editor, the YuJa Video Platform Icon will be available to users in all WYSIWYG text fields.
LTI-Based Gradebook Integration with Canvas
This section provides the instruction for the optional integration of the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform Gradebook into your Canvas Gradebook.
- Log into Canvas either as an Administrator or an Instructor.
- Go to the desired course where you would like to add a new Gradebook item.
- Click on Assignments and create a new assignment.
- Provide a title and description for the assignment.
- Scroll down to Submission Type and select the External Tool option from the list.
- Click Find then select YuJa.
- Switch to the Quizzes tab and select the Video Quiz you would like to publish.
- Set other assignment settings such as points and numbers of attempts.
- Click Save and Publish once you are done to make the Video Quiz assignment accessible to users.
Viewing the Gradebook
- As an Instructor: Log in as an Instructor. Navigate to your course homepage. Click on the Grades option on the course navigation menu. Here, you will be able to see each student’s score on each quiz.
- As a Student: Log in as a Student. Navigate to your course homepage. Click on the Grades option on the course navigation menu. You will be able to see the grades for the assignments you have taken.
