Video Platform Auto-captioning can create an automatically generated word-by-word searchable transcript of your media that can be edited using the Video Editor. While the Video Platform offers excellent quality automated captioning, a variety of external captioning services are also available for increased accuracy.
Managing Uploaded Media Auto-Captions
While most Auto-captioning is done automatically, Content Creators are also able to customize the Auto-captioning settings for a media file that is being uploaded.
- Log in to the Video Platform and navigate to your Media Collection by clicking Manage Media from the top of the webpage.
- Using the Upload button from the Media Collection toolbar, upload a video or audio file.
- Click on the Manage Captions button.
- Select the language of the video for Auto-captioning.
- Add additional Dictionary words for this particular media file if needed and select Save. To learn more about the Auto-Captioning Dictionary, click here.
Requesting Auto-Captions Manually
Auto-captioning should run automatically and generate a closed-caption file with your Organization Zone's default language. Content Creators will also have the option to manually request auto-captioning for their media files if the files are in a different language.
- From your Media Collection, hover over a media thumbnail and select More... to open up the Media Details panel.
- Select the Accessibility tab from the left side.
- Click on Auto Caption and select the language of the media file to request auto-captioning for, then click Send Caption Request.
- Click Save Accessibility when done.
Uploading a New Caption File Manually
The Video Platform also provides the ability for users to upload their own closed-caption files. At the moment, the Video Platform supports the following industry standard formates: SRT, XML or WebVTT.
- From your Media Collection, hover over a media thumbnail and select More... to open up the Media Details panel.
- Select the Accessibility tab from the left side.
- Click on the Upload button and select the Captions option.
- Specify the language and browse the closed-caption file from your local computer.
- Click on Save Accessibility when done.
Editing Auto-Captions
Content Creators can use the Video Editor to edit Video Captions, both Auto-captions and manually uploaded caption files, when needed.
- Hover over a media thumbnail and select Edit to launch the Video Editor.
- Click the CC button to pull up the auto-captions.
- Below is the list of all the available actions users can use.
- Update the auto-captions timestamps.
- Edit the auto-captions texts.
- Delete a caption line.
- Add a new caption line.
- Once done, click the Save button to save all the new changes.
