The Entity Linkage Settings within the Video Platform enable organizations to link users between their respective Learning Management System (LMS), Student Information System (SIS), and custom course and user provisioning APIs. The linkage settings can be controlled by the Administrator in the Video Platform under the Admin Panel's Integrations tab. Here, you can turn linkage on for courses and users, and set the linkage attribute.
LTI Linkage Settings
The LTI Linkage Setting page is designed to map newly created users and Channels being sent from the Learning Management System to existing users and Channels in the Video Platform previously created by an API.
- Log in as an Administrator and select Admin Panel. Choose Integrations.
- Scroll down to the section labeled Entity Linkage Settings.
- In the section for LTI Linkage Settings, choose to link users and course; you may select the desired type of linkage from the dropdown menus.
- On the top right of the screen, select the Save button.
API Linkage Settings
The API Linkage Setting is designed to map newly created users and courses being sent from the API to existing users and Media Channels within the Video Platform previously created by an API.
- Log in as an Administrator and select the Admin Panel. Click on Integrations.
- Scroll down to the section labeled Entity Linkage Settings.
- In the section for API Linkage Settings, click to link the API Class Linkage Attribute and the existing users. You may choose the Linkage Attribute from the dropdown menu for class linkage.
- On the top right of the screen, select the Save button.
Testing the Integration
Whether you enabled the LTI or the API Linkage Settings section, the last step would be to confirm that both the Media Channels and Users between the two entities merge without duplication.
Testing the LTI Linkage Entity
- Login on the Learning Management System side under the user and Media Channel you wish to merge on the API side.
- Click on the LTI link to access the Video Platform.
- After clicking on the LTI link from the Learning Management System, ensure that a new user and Media Channel is not created within the Video Platform. But rather the user and Media Channel merge into the existing entities created from the API.+
Testing the API Linkage Entity
- Run the custom API to include the user and Media Channel you wish to merge on your Learning Management System side.
- Once the API call is complete, ensure that a new user and Media Channel is not created within the Video Platform. But rather the user and Media Channel merge into the existing entities created from the Learning Management System.
