The Epiphan Enterprise Integration provides the ability to use the Video Platform to schedule, record, and import captures from Epiphan appliances.
Registering an Epiphan Appliance in the Video Platform’s Admin Panel
Registering an Epiphan appliance will allow Admin users to import and manage schedules remotely within the Admin Panel Video Platform. The initial step involves registering the Epiphan appliance in the Admin Panel.
- Log into the Video Platform as an Administrator and navigate to the Admin Panel.
- On the Devices page, click Register Device. Select Register Epiphan Device.
- Fill out the following information and click Register.
Device Name: A nickname for the Epiphan appliance.
Device URL: The remote IP Address for the Epiphan appliance.
Device Username: Username used to access the Epiphan appliance if applicable.
Device Password: Password used to access the Epiphan appliance if applicable. - Once done, click on the Settings icon of the newly registered Epiphan appliance.
- Copy down the Epiphan Bear token for later use.
Setting up YuJa Epiphan Middleware
YuJa Epiphan Middleware is required in order to maintain connections between the Epiphan Appliance and the Video Platform. It is recommended that this is set up and run on a computer with a stable Internet connection and on the same network as the Epiphan Appliance.
Note: This requires Java 8 to be installed on the computer. Open Windows cmd and type in Java. If it states that the command is not recognized, please proceed to this link to download and install Java 8 on the computer (https://www.java.com/en/download/help/windows_manual_download.xml). Otherwise, proceed to the steps below.
- Download the YuJa-EVP-Epiphan-Middleware file, which is provided by your YuJa Account Manager, and unzip it.
- Open the properties file and fill out the following information, then click Save.
LOG_FILE: Keep as is.
LOG_LEVEL: Keep as is or can be switched to ERROR.
MAX_FILE_SIZE: Keep as is.
EMITTER_ENDPOINT: https://<Your_YuJa_Domain>/P/EpiphanEmitter
TRANSMITTER_ENDPOINT: https://<Your_YuJa_Domain>/P/EpiphanListener
AUTH_CODE: Obtained from Section 1, Step 5. - Run the runEpiphan.bat file and keep the application window opens. Do not close the window; otherwise, the connection will be interrupted.
Setting up Epiphan Portal
The Epiphan Portal can be accessed through the remote IP address of the Epiphan appliance. The steps will provide users with instructions to link the Epiphan appliance to YuJa Video Platform’s storage servers and setup recording settings.
- Log in to the Epiphan Portal through the remote IP address of the Epiphan appliance.
- Navigate to the Configuration and select Automatic File Upload, then fill in the information as follows. Once done, click Apply.
Enable Automatic File Upload: Checked.
Protocol: AWS S3 Client.
How Often: On file rotation.
AWS Region Code: Provided by your YuJa Account Manager.
Bucket: Provided by your YuJa Account Manager.
Access Key ID: Provided by your YuJa Account Manager.
Secret Access Key: Provided by your YuJa Account Manager. - Next, navigate to every channel in the Epiphan Portal and select Recording.
- Under Recorder Setup, select Change and adjust the recording settings to your needs.
Importing Recording Schedule to the Video Platform
The last steps in the process involve importing the recording schedule to the Video Platform. The guide below will provide users with instructions on how to set up a CSV file and import it to the Video Platform.
- Download a CSV file accessible via Admin Panel → Devices --> Import Schedule to see how a CSV file is set up. Below are the important columns that need to be configured correctly.
Column C: Date of the recording.
Column E: Output title of the recording.
Column F: Recording Start time – Based on the timezone under the user’s profile.
Column G: Recording End time – Based on the timezone under the user’s profile.
Column K: Pearl – The endpoint which you configured in Section 1.
Column L: The Epiphan channel that is used to record this lecture.
Column M: HTML code of colors. This will show up in the Device’s Calendar.
Column N: The YuJa Course where the recording will be published to it.
Column O: The YuJa User ID for the assigned owner of the recording. - Log into the Video Platform as an Administrator and navigate to the Admin Panel.
- On the Devices page, select Import Schedule and select the CSV file created above.
- Click Import to finish.
