This guide provides instructions on integrating the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform (EVP) into your D2L Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS). To perform the integration, you will receive a Zone Provisioning document which includes a Consumer Key, a Shared Secret Key, and the Zone URL for your Organization. Adding the Video Platform as an External Tool
The below steps will make the Video Platform an LTI tool available in D2L Brightspace and can be accessed as a Navbar option or available as a Quick Link. Please note that if any course is using a custom Navbar then it will need to be modified in order to add the Video Platform tool.
Setting up the Video Platform as an External Tool for All Courses
The below steps will make the Video Platform an LTI tool available to the whole institution in D2L Brightspace.
- Log in as a D2L Brightspace Admin and click on the Gear icon, select External Learning Tools from the list.
- Under the Manage External Learning Tool Links tab, click on New Link.
- Fill out the information as shown for the Properties section.
- Title: YuJa
- URL: https://<Your_YuJa_Domain>/LMSEntry.jsp
- Example: https://evergreen.yuja.com/LMSEntry.jsp
- Description: YuJa Enterprise Video.
- Visibility: Allow users to view this link.
- Scroll down to the Key/Secret section and enter the following information.
- Signature: Select Sign Messages with Key/Secret with and Link Key/Secret.
- Key: Consumer Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- Secret: Shared Secret Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- Leave the Custom Parameters section empty, do NOT add any parameters.
- Under the Security Settings section, select the following options.
- Use Link Security Settings: Check all the available options.
- Make Link Available to: Select the org units you wish to give access to YuJa, and enable All Descendants button.
- Once done, click Save and Close.
Setting up the Video Platform as an External Tool Per Course Basis
The below steps will make the Video Platform an LTI tool available to an individual course in D2L Brightspace instead of the whole institution.
- Log in as a D2L Brightspace Admin and navigate to the course in D2L Brightspace where you want to add the Video Platform tool. Select Course Admin or Edit Course from the course’s Navbar.
- Select the External Learning Tools under the Site Resources section.
- Under the Manage External Learning Tool Links tab, click on New Link.
- Fill out the information as shown for the Properties section.
- Title: YuJa
- URL: https://<Your_YuJa_Domain>/LMSEntry.jsp
- Description: YuJa Enterprise Video.
- Visibility: Allow users to view this link.
- Scroll down to the Key/Secret section and enter the following information.
- Signature: Select Sign Messages with Key/Secret with and Link Key/Secret.
- Key: Consumer Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- Secret: Shared Secret Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.

- Make Link Available to: Leave the Current Org Unit as default.
- Once done, click Save and Close.
Configuring D2L IMS Settings
The following settings should be applied to ensure proper integration with the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform.
Adding the Video Platform to Courses Navbar
The instructions below will allow users to add the Video Platform to D2L Brightspace Navbar for quick access.
- Log into D2L Brightspace as an Admin.
- Click the ... icon on the Navbar and choose Edit This Navbar.
- Next, choose Add Links then Create Custom Link.
- Enter the following information then click Create.
- Name: YuJa
- URL: Click Insert Quick Link, then choose External Learning Tools. Search and select the YuJa tool setup previously. Important: In some instances of D2L Brightspace, the inserted Quicklink will omit the domain of the institution in the auto-generated URL. For example, the auto-generated URL will start with /d2l/… You will want to prefix this URL with your D2L’s domain name. For examples: https://<Your_D2L_Subdomain>.brightspace.com/.
- Behavior: Same Window.
- Click Add to add YuJa to the Navbar option, then click Save and Close.
- The Video Platform is available for quick access through the D2L Brightspace Navbar.
Adding the Video Platform as a QuickLink in D2L Brightspace Courses
The instructions below will allow users to add the Video Platform as a QuickLink to any D2L Brightspace courses for quick access.
- Log into D2L Brightspace as an Admin and go to the desired course, then choose Content.
- Next, choose Existing Activities and select External Learning Tools.
- Search and select YuJa.
- When done, the Video Platform will be available as a QuickLink within the D2L Brightspace course.
Installing the YuJa Media Chooser for D2L Brightspace
The following instructions will allow Admin to integrate a YuJa Media Chooser Extension into your D2L Brightspace using LTI. If you have any questions regarding any steps in this process, please contact your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
Installation
- Log in as a D2L Brightspace Admin and click on the Gear icon, select Remote Plugin from the list.
- Click on New Remote Plugin.
- Fill in the information as followed then click Save.
- Plugin Type: Insert Stuff (Deep Linking). Important: If you do not see this option, you will need to enable the configuration variable named d2l.Tools.Lti.ContentItemMessaging.IsEnabled ( Org ). This flag determines whether the Deep Linking plugins are available for creation on that screen.
- Name: YuJa Media Chooser
- Launch Point URL: https://<Your_YuJa_Domain>/LMSEntry.jsp
- LTI Key: Consumer Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- LTI Secret: Shared Secret Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- OAuth Signature Method: HMAC-SHA1
- Description: YuJa Media Chooser
- Make Available to: Leave the Org Unit as default or select any courses where you would like to make this link available.
- Click on the Gear icon, select External Learning Tools from the list.
- Select Manage Tool Providers and click the arrow next to the domain of your zone to open a dropdown menu. Select Edit Tool Provider.
- Under Tool Provider Settings, confirm the information is entered as the following:
- Launch Point: <Your_YuJa_Domain>
- Version: Inherit Global (1.1)
- OAuth Signature Method: HMAC-SHA1
- Key: Consumer Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- Secret: Shared Secret Key provided by your YuJa Customer Success Manager.
- Name: YuJa Media Chooser
- Visibility: Allow users to use this tool provider
- Under the Security Settings section, select the following options.
- Click Save and Close. The YuJa Media Chooser is now available to use.
Usage
With the YuJa Media Chooser set up, users will be able to use it to embed their videos in D2L Brightspace courses.
- Open the text editor in D2L Brightspace and choose Insert Stuff. Next, select YuJa Media Chooser.
- Once the YuJa Media Chooser loads, users will be able to select any video from their Media Library to embed in D2L Brightspace.
Optional - Video Analytics Tracking for D2L Brightspace Using Deep Linking
Deep Linking is a protocol that enables LTI-based tools to pass back authentication information for, among other things, embedded videos. Within D2L Brightspace, Deep Linking can be used to embed content using a specified D2L Brightspace-defined Deep Linking workflow. Videos posted to D2L Brightspace using the D2L Brightspace Deep Linking workflow will be able to track analytics (i.e. the YuJa user watching the video will be known as opposed to the viewer being marked as “Anonymous”).
Installing the Deep Linking-based Media Chooser for D2L
The Deep Linking-based Media Chooser for D2L tool is installed from within the D2L Brightspace LMS.
- Click on the Admin Tools widget to open the Menu and select Manage Extensibility.
- Click Register an App.
- Within Register an Application, enter the information as followed.
- Application Name: YuJa Media Chooser.
- Trusted URL: Enter your zone-specific URL as: https://<YourInstitution>.yuja.com/LMSEntry.jsp.
- Major Version: 1
- Minor Version: 0
- Enable this application: Enabled.
- I accept the Non-Commercial Developer Agreement: Select.
- Click Register Application.
- D2L Brightspace will generate and provide an Application ID and Application Key.
- Navigate to your institution's YuJa Enterprise Video Platform at https://<YourInstitution>.yuja.com. If you have YuJa installed as an External Tool link, click on it to access the EVP.
- Navigate to the Admin Panel>>Integrations. Under Select Integration, open the dropdown menu and select LMS API.
- Choose Select an API to Configure, then select LMS via LTI >D2L.
- Go to Tool Configuration and input your Application ID and Key referenced in D2L in step 4 above.
- Click Save.
Adding Deep Linking-based Media Chooser for D2L as a Remote Plugin
- Click on the Admin Tools widget to open the Menu, then select Remote Plugins.
- Click New Remote Plugin.
- Within Create a new Remote Plugin, choose the following settings:
- Plugin Type: Quicklink (Deep Linking).
- Name: YuJa Media Chooser.
- Launch Point URL: https://<YourInstitution>.yuja.com/LMSEntry.jsp.
- LTI Key: Enter Consumer Key.
- LTI Secret: Enter Shared Secret.
- Make available to: Choose the desired course / department / organization.
- Click Save.
Using the Deep Linking-based Media Chooser to Add Content to Announcements
Content may be added to D2L Brightspace in the Announcements using the Deep Linking-based Media Chooser. This enables analytics data for the inserted content to be tracked back.
- Within a course, navigate to Announcements and select New Announcements.
- In the Content box, click the Insert QuickLink button.
- From the available Quicklinks, under Third Party, select YuJa Media Chooser.
- From the Media Chooser, select the video you wish to embed in the D2L Announcement.
- Select Publish. You will be redirected to the D2L Announcements page where you will see the video embedded in the post.
Using the Deep Linking-based Media Chooser to Add Content to Course Modules
Content may also be added directly to individual courses modules.
Optional - LTI-Based Gradebook Integration with D2L Brightspace
The following steps will provide users with instructions for the optional integration of the Video Platform Gradebook into your D2L Brightspace Gradebook. This assumes you already completed the Video Platform setup.
Enabling the D2L Brightspace Gradebook
- Log in as a D2L Brightspace Admin and click on the Course Admin from the course’s Navbar.
- Under the Administration section, select Tools.
- From the list of all available tools, make sure the Grades tool is enabled.
- The Grades tool is now available to use.
Adding the D2L Brightspace Gradebook to Courses Navbar
- Log into D2L Brightspace as an Admin.
- Click the ... icon on the Navbar and choose Edit This Navbar.
- Select Add Link then find and check Grades from the list. Click Add then Save and Close to update the Navbar.
Syncing Grades from YuJa Back to D2L Brightspace
Once the Grades tool is enabled, users will then create a Video Quiz within YuJa. To complete this you will want to login to YuJa and create a new Video Quiz. Once the students complete their assigned quiz, the results will be automatically synced to the D2L Brightspace Grades tab.
Using D2L Multi-Column Gradebook Integration via the YuJa Media Chooser with Grade Book Sync
Posting a YuJa Video Quiz
- As an instructor, navigate to your course’s homepage.
- Click on Assignments or the Content tab to add a New Assignment.
- Use Insert Stuff and select YuJa Media Chooser.
- Switch to the Quizzes tab and choose a Video Quiz to insert.
- Give the Assignment a name then click Save and Close to post the Video Quiz.
Taking a YuJa Video Quiz
- As a student, navigate to the course homepage.
- Navigate to the location where the Video Quiz is posted.
- Click “Submit” after completing the quiz. The student’s score will be automatically recorded in the D2L Brightspace.
Viewing the Gradebook
- As an Instructor: Log in as an instructor. Navigate to your course homepage. Click on the Grades tab on the course’s Navbar. Here, you will be able to see each student’s score for each quiz. Each quiz will be listed on their individual row and clicking on the quiz will reveal all submission details.
- As a Student: Log in as a student. Navigate to your course homepage. Click on the Grades tab on the course’s Navbar. You will be able to see the grades for the assignments you have taken.
