Integrating YuJa Lumina into Canvas using LTI 1.3

As an admin, you can integrate YuJa Lumina into your Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Before integrating Lumina, please ensure that you have full access to Canvas as an admin. If you have any questions about the steps in this guide, please contact your dedicated Account Manager.

Note: If your organization is running a 2018 or earlier version of Canvas, please update your Canvas to the latest version in order to use an LTI 1.3 connection.

Generating Canvas developer keys

Before integrating YuJa Lumina into Canvas, you must create a new Developer Key to generate a Deployment ID for the LTI 1.3 connection in Canvas.

1. Log in to Canvas as an admin.
2. In the sidebar, select Admin > Developer Keys.

3. Click + Developer Key > + LTI Key.

   

4. In the Key Name field, enter YuJa Lumina.

5. In the Method drop-down menu, select Enter URL.

   

6. Paste your institution's JSON URL under JSON URL. Your institution's JSON URL is as follows: https://<INST_URL>/P/LTI/Canvas/CanvasLTI3Config.json
   • Replace <INST_URL> with your zone URL. 

   • Example: https://lakewood.yuja.com/P/LTI/Canvas/CanvasLTI3Config.json

     

7. The Redirect URIs field will automatically be filled.

   

8. Click Save.

   

9. Ensure that the Developer Key State is toggled on.

   

10. Click on the pencil icon.

    

11. Scroll down to the Additional Settings button to expand the field.

    

12. Add the following parameters (including quotations) to the Custom Fields section. For more information on each parameter, please reach out to your dedicated Account Manager.

    "lti_login_id”:”$Canvas.user.loginId",

    “canvas_course_id=$Canvas.course.id”

    

13. Click Save in the bottom right corner. The Key Settings modal will close automatically. 

    

14. Click View in Canvas Apps. A new Canvas window will open.

    

15. Click Unlock app. 

    

16. In the pop-up, click Unlock. 

    

17. Next, click the pencil icon.

    

18. Change the status to Available, then click Save. 

    

19. Upon clicking Save, click Copy Client ID, as it will be required in the next sections. 

    

Adding YuJa Lumina to all courses

Once the LTI Developer Key is set up, you can add YuJa Lumina to all your courses in Canvas.

1. Log in to Canvas as an Admin.
2. In the side navbar, select Admin.
3. Select Settings.

4. Select the Apps tab > View App Configurations.

   

5. Ensure that the toggle is enabled for the app for YuJa Lumina. 

   

6. Click on the Gear button and select Deployment Id. 

   

7. Take note of the Deployment Id for later use.

   

Adding YuJa Lumina to a single course

Once the LTI Developer Key is set up, you can add YuJa Lumina to the courses you choose.

1. Log in to Canvas as an admin and select your course.
2. Select Settings.
3. Select the Apps tab > View App Configurations.
   

4. Click + App.

   

5. In the Configuration Type drop-down field, select By Client ID.

   

6. In the Client ID field, enter the the Client ID copied in step 19 of Generating Canvas Developer Keys, and then click Submit. 

   

7. Click Install.

   

8. Click on the Gear button and select Deployment Id.

   

9. Take note of the Deployment Id for use in the next section.

   

Integrating Canvas into YuJa Lumina

Once the LTI Developer Key is set up, you can integrate Canvas into YuJa Lumina.
