As an administrator, you can set up a managed guest session for test-takers using Chromebooks to take a proctored assessment without signing in with their Google Account. This allows you to use the Google Admin console to set session settings and restrict the session to specific apps and extensions, matching your proctoring preferences. Before You Start
- Ensure you have admin access to your institution’s Google Admin console.
- Register the Chromebooks used by test-takers with your institution’s Google Workspace account.
- Ensure you have downloaded the Verity Browser Extension from the Chrome Web Store. If you haven't, refer to this guide for additional assistance.
Creating an Organizational Unit
Create a new organizational unit (OU) to apply the same session policy to a selected list of Chromebooks.
- Log in to your institution's Google account as an admin.
- Go to the Google Admin console.
- In the Admin console, select Organizational units.
- Click Create organization unit.

Enter a name and a description (optional) for your organizational unit.
Adding Devices to Your Organizational Unit
Move selected devices into the organizational unit (OU) created for a Managed Guest Session.
- Go to the Google Admin console home page.
- Select Devices > Chrome.
- In the sidebar, select your institution's main organizational unit.
Note: Do not select the organizational unit created for the managed guest session. - From the list of devices, select the devices you want to add.
- Click the Move button.
- Select the organizational unit created for the managed guest session from the destination list.

Click Move.
Enabling Managed Guest Session for Your Organizational Unit
This allows the devices in your organizational unit (OU) to log in with the managed guest session. Please make sure that you have downloaded the Verity Browser Extension prior to proceeding with these steps. For additional help, refer to this guide.
- Go to the Google Admin console home page.
- From the sidebar, select Devices > Chrome > Settings, then click Managed guest session settings on the top.
- Select your organizational unit that you created in Creating an Organizational Unit then click Managed guest session > Allow managed guest session or Auto-launch managed guest session in the dropdown.
- Go to Apps & extensions from the sidebar, then click Managed guest sessions.
- Click onto the YuJa Verity Chrome Extension and choose Force install + pin to browser toolbar.
