Handoff is a feature in Apple's devices that allows you to start a task or browse on one Apple device (e.g., iPhone, iPad, Mac), then switch to another nearby Apple device to continue your task. Your instructor may require you to turn off Handoff during a proctored assessment to maintain academic integrity.
Disabling Handoff on iPhone or iPad
- Go to Settings on your device.
- Tab General > AirPlay & Continuity (or AirPlay & Handoff in earlier iOS versions).
- Turn off Handoff.
Disabling Handoff on Mac
- Go to Apple menu > System Settings (or System Preferences in earlier iOS versions).
- In the sidebar, click General.
- Click AirDrop & Handoff.
Note: Skip this step if your device is in a macOS version earlier than macOS Ventura. - Turn off Allow Handoff between this Mac and your iCloud devices.
