Integrating FeedbackFlow into D2L Brightspace using LTI 1.3

As an admin, you can connect the FeedbackFlow Platform with your D2L Brightspace Learning Management System (LMS) to make it available inside D2L Brightspace for creating, viewing, and grading video-based performance assessments.

Registering FeedbackFlow in D2L Brightspace

  1. Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Settings icon in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Manage Extensibility from the drop-down menu.

  3. From that window, select LTI Advantage, then Register Tool.

  4. Select Standard for the tool registration.
  5. Enter the following information in each field accordingly:
      • Name: You can select a name for the FeedbackFlow (e.g., YuJa FeedbackFlow).
      • Domain: https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/InteractiveModuleLTI3Entry.jsp
      • Redirect URLs:https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/InteractiveModuleLTI3Entry.jsp
      • OpenID Connect Login URL:https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/LTI3LoginInit.jsp
      • Keyset URL: https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/P/Data/LTI3JwksJSONS
  6. In the Extension field, check the following checkboxes: 
      • Assignment and Grade Services 
      • Deep Linking
  7. In the Roles field, check Send Institution Role.
  8. In the Substitution Parameters field, click Add Substitution Parameter to add the following parameters: 
    • Name: d2l_course_previous_context_ids
    • Value: $Context.id.history
  9. In the Custom Parameters field, click Add Substitution Parameter to add the following parameters: 
    • Name: lti_login_id
    • Value: $User.username
  10. Click Register.
  11. Jot down the Client ID, Brightspace Keyset URL, OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint, and Issuer, as you will be using them in the next section.

Adding FeedbackFlow to D2L Brightspace

Once FeedbackFlow has been registered with the LMS, it can be integrated in D2L Brightspace.

  1. Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Settings icon.
  2. Select External Learning Tools from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click New Deployment.

  4. Fill in the Tool and Name fields for your new deployment:
    • Tool: Select the YuJa FeedbackFlow tool created in the previous section.
    • Name: Any name of your choice (e.g., YuJa FeedbackFlow).
    • Description: YuJa FeedbackFlow
    • Extensions: Check Assignment and Grade Services and Deep Linking options.
  5. In the Security Settings field, check the following checkboxes:
    • Org Unit Information
    • User Information
      • Name
      • First Name
      • Middle Name
      • Last Name
    • Email
    • User ID
    • Username
    • Org Defined Id
    • Link Information
    • Title Description

  6. (Optional) Click Add Org Units to add any org units for your deployment.

  7. (Optional) Select any org units you want to deploy the Verity LTI tool for, then click Add.

  8. Click Create Deployment.

  9. Click the Copy icon to copy the Deployment Id and save it on your device.
  10. Click Done.

Adding FeedbackFlow to Your Course

Adding FeedbackFlow as a course content Tool in D2L allows instructors to access Lumina in their course and use the media chooser to embed the quizzes. Make sure you are currently in the new Content Experience version on D2L Brightspace to add FeedbackFlow as a course content tool.

  1. Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Settings icon.
  2. Select External Learning Tools from the drop-down menu.

  3. Click the YuJa FeedbackFlow tool created in the previous section.

  4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click View Links.

  5. Select New Link and enter the following information, then click Save and Close.
    • Name: YuJa FeedbackFlow
    • URL: https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/InteractiveModuleLTI3Entry.jsp
    • Description: YuJa FeedbackFlow
    • Type: Basic Launch
  6. Click Save and Close.

  7. Select New Link again and enter the following information. 
    • Name: YuJa Media Chooser
    • URL: https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/InteractiveModuleLTI3Entry.jsp
    • Description: YuJa Media Chooser
    • Type: Deep Linking Insert Stuff
  8. Click Save and Close.

  9. Select New Link one last time and enter the following information. 
    • Name: YuJa Media Chooser - Deep Link for Quizzes
    • URL: https://<YOUR_YUJA_DOMAIN>/InteractiveModuleLTI3Entry.jsp
    • Description: YuJa Media Chooser - Deep Link for Quizzes
    • Type: Deep Linking Quicklink
  10. Click Save and Close.

Connecting Your D2L Brightspace Account to FeedbackFlow

After setting up FeedbackFlow in D2L Brightspace, you can connect your D2L Brightspace account with FeedbackFlow.

  1. Go to your course and select FeedbackFlow in the sidebar.
  2. Within FeedbackFlow, click the arrow icon to expand the sidebar.

  3. Select Configuration.

  4. From the Select Integration drop-down menu, select D2L Brightspace.
  5. Fill out the required fields:
    • ISS: https://<YOUR_D2L_BRIGHTSPACE_DOMAIN>
    • Client ID: Enter the client ID obtained earlier in the Registering FeedbackFlow in D2L Brightspace section.
    • OIDC Endpoint: https://<YOUR_D2L_BRIGHTSPACE_DOMAIN>/d2l/lti/authenticate
    • JWKS Endpoint: https://yujademo.brightspacedemo.com/d2l/.well-known/jwks
    • Outh2 Token Endpoint: https://<YOUR_D2L_BRIGHTSPACE_DOMAIN>/core/connect/token
    • Deployment ID: Enter the deployment ID copied in the Adding FeedbackFlow to D2L Brightspace section. If entering multiple Deployment IDs, separate each by a single comma.
  6. Once you fill in all required fields, click Save Changes. You will then be able to access FeedbackFlow from your D2L Brightspace courses.

Note: When filling out the Integration fields, please ensure that there are no spelling mistakes, extra symbols, or spaces.
