Advanced Network Settings allow users with Manage Access to determine when scans capture website content, ensuring more accurate results on sites with dynamic or delayed elements.
Accessing Advanced Network Settings
- Log in to EqualGround.
- In the side navbar, select Websites.
- Click on the website you want to configure advanced network settings for.
- Select the Configuration tab.
- In the Advanced Network Settings section, make the following adjustments for your website:
- Wait for Network Calls: This setting determines whether the scanner should wait for all network requests (e.g. loading images, scripts, or APIs) to complete before retrieving the page's HTML. It is recommended to turn this setting on if your website relies heavily on JavaScript or APIs to render dynamic content.
- Network Call Duration (Seconds): This setting determines the maximum time limit the scanner will wait for network calls to complete. For large websites, having a longer wait time can slow down scans.
- Delay HTML Download (Seconds): This setting adds a delay before the scanner retrieves the HTML. It allows time for animations, transitions, or lazy-loaded elements to finish rendering. It is recommended to use this setting if your website has animations or delays before content is fully visible, such as having loading spinners.
- Request from One IP Address: This setting determines whether all network call requests will be sent from one IP address. It is recommended to turn on this setting to make managing network security easier.
- Exclude Non-Encrypted Links: This setting determines whether links starting with "http" will be scanned. It is recommended to turn on this setting to ensure all scanned content comes from secure sources.
- Include Query Parameters: This setting determines whether query parameters are removed before scanning. Turning on the setting ensures the website variations are included in the scan. Turning off the setting can remove redundant scans.
- Automatically Close Cookie Popups: This setting allows EqualGround to automatically close cookie popups during a scan. It is recommended to turn on this setting to ensure the scan has full visibility of the page and can yield more accurate results.
