A document without headings makes it challenging for users to navigate or locate specific sections of information.
Adding Heading Levels to a PDF
To resolve the issue, heading tags should be added to the content to help assistive technologies, such as screen readers, to differentiate sections for easier navigation.
- In the Accessibility Report for the PDF document, locate the Structural Remediation banner and click Launch.
- Locate the element that should be tagged with a heading level, and click the More Actions button.
- Select Edit.
- In the Element Type field, select a heading.
Note: If this is the first heading level, select Heading 1. - Click Back.
- Repeat steps 2 to 5 for any other headings.
- Click the Save changes button.
