Distributed recordings allow Content Creators to record from two or more independently operating Software Capture applications. Content Creators can join an existing distributed recording or host a recording for others to participate in. To learn how to host or join a recording, please follow the steps below.
How to Host a Session
Before proceeding with the steps below, please ensure you have registered the Software Capture application with the Video Platform.
- Launch the Software Capture application from your desktop or the Video Platform.
- Select the drop-down arrow for Session Settings and toggle ON Distributed Session.
- Click the START button.
- Click Host Session.
- Click the Copy button to copy the unique session code. You can share the code with the individuals you wish to invite, allowing them to join your session.
- In the password field, you have the option to enter a password for extra security. Please ensure you share the password with your invitees.
- Finally, click Host Session to start recording and allow individuals to join. Once recordings are complete, they will be uploaded to your Video Platform instance for viewing.
How to Join a Session
Before proceeding with the steps below, please ensure you have registered the Software Capture application with your Video Platform instance, and you have received the session code from the host.
- Launch the Software Capture application from your desktop or the Video Platform.
- Select the drop-down arrow for Session Settings and toggle ON Distributed Session.
- Click the START button.
- Click Join Session.
- Enter the session code received from the host and click Join Session.
- You may be required to enter a password. If a password is required, please enter the password received from the host and click Join Session once more to begin sharing your recording. Once the host ends the session, the recording will be available to them on their Video Platform instance.
