To learn how to integrate YuJa Verity for Test Proctoring into your D2L Brightspace environment, follow the steps below as an admin. Once completed, the integration will allow instructors and students to utilize the tool for test proctoring sessions.
Registering YuJa Verity to D2L Brightspace
- Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Gear icon in the top-right corner.
- From the drop-down menu, click Manage Extensibility.
- Select the LTI Advantage tab and then click Register Tool.
- Enter the information for the tool as seen below and click Register.
- How would you like to register your tool: Standard
- Name: Any name of your choice for the Verity tool.
- Domain: https://zone1.verity.yuja.com/
- Redirect URLs: https://zone1.verity.yuja.com/lti/1.3
- OpenID Connect Login URL: https://zone1.verity.yuja.com/lti/1.3/login
- Keyset URL: https://zone1.verity.yuja.com/jwks

Check the following Extensions:
- Assignment and Grade Services
- Deep Linking
- Names and Role Provisioning Services
- Roles: Check Send Institution Role.

Add the following Substitution Parameters:
- Name: Any name of your choice for the parameter. Value: $User.id
- Name: Any name of your choice for the parameter. Value: $User.username
- The Brightspace Registration Details panel will appear once you click Register. Make note of the Client ID, Brightspace Keyset URL, OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint, and Issuer.
- Click Done and follow the steps in the next section of this guide.
Deploying the YuJa Verity LTI Tool
Once the YuJa Verity LTI tool has been registered to the LMS, it can be deployed in D2L Brightspace.

Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Gear icon in the top-right corner of your screen. From the drop-down menu, click External Learning Tool.
- Click New Deployment.
- Enter the information for the tool as seen below.
- Tool: The YuJa Verity LTI tool registered in the previous section.
- Name: Any name of your choice for the deployment.

Extensions: Check the following:
- Org Unit Information
-
User Information
-
Name
- First Name
- Middle Name
- Last Name
- User ID
- Username
- Org Defined Id

Name
- Configuration Settings: Check Open as external Resource.

Click Add Org Units to add any org units for your deployment.
- Locate and select any org units you wish to deploy the YuJa verity LTI tool for and click Add.
- Click Create Deployment.
- Send the Deployment Id and Client ID, Brightspace Keyset URL, OpenID Connect Authentication Endpoint, and Issuer, noted in the previous section, to your Customer Success Manager and move to the next section of the guide.
Adding YuJa Verity as a Course Content Tool
Verity requires a Course Content Tool to allow instructors and students to authenticate themselves before creating or taking a Verity-enabled test.

Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Gear icon in the top-right corner of your screen. From the drop-down menu, click External Learning Tool.
- Click on the YuJa Verity tool created in the previous section.
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click View Links.
- Click New Links.
- Fill out the information as shown below, and then click Save and Close.
- Name: Any name of your choice.
- URL: https://zone1.verity.yuja.com/lti/1.3
- Ensure that the tool is Enabled.
- Next, navigate to a course you wish to add the YuJa Verity tool to and click the Content tab from the top navigation bar.
- Select the unit you'd like to add the course content tool to and click Add Existing.
- Select External Tool Activity.
- Use the search bar to locate the YuJa Verity tool and then click on the tool to insert it into the course.
- Once inserted, and your Customer Success Manager has completed the integration on their side, admins, instructors, and students can access the tool and click Open Link to authenticate themselves and receive instructions on how to download the YuJa Verity extension.
Note: Adding YuJa Verity as a content tool is only available for the new Content Experience.
Integrating the LMS Visualizer
Admins can install the LMS Visualizer within their D2L Brightspace instance to monitor the YuJa Verity Browser Extension. The Visualizer can also help guide students in accessing their assessments. Without it, you will need to give students details on how to authenticate themselves and the password to access their assessments.
- Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Verity link within any course.
- From the left-side menu, click Settings and then select Integration.
- From the Select Integration drop-down menu, choose LMS Visualiser.

Click Download Visualizer. The verity-d2l-theme file will download to your device.
- Next, click the Admin Tools (gear) icon and select JavaScript Management.
- Click Import Module.
- Enter a Module Name.
- Click Upload and select the verity-d2l-theme file downloaded in step 4.
- Click Add.
- Once added, toggle the visualizer to Enabled.
- Click the drop-down arrow next to the module's name and select Manage Roles.
- Enable the visualizer for the desired roles to complete the process. We recommend enabling it for instructor and student roles.
Integrating the REST API for Practice Quizzes
The REST API is an optional integration that allows instructors to create practice quizzes in D2L Brightspace to familiarize students with YuJa Verity.
- Log in to D2L Brightspace as an admin and click the Gear icon in the top-right corner.
- From the drop-down menu, click Manage Extensibility.
- Select the OAuth 2.0 tab and click Register an app.
- Fill out the information as shown below, and click Save.
- Application Name: Any identifiable name of your choice (e.g. Verity Practice Quiz).
- Redirect URl: Obtained from your Customer Success Manager.
- Scope: core:*:* quizzing:quizzes:create,read,write
- Uncheck Prompt for user consent.
- Check Enable refresh tokens and I accept the Non-Commercial Developer Agreement.
- Once registered, click on the newly created app.
- To complete the process, please contact your Customer Success Manager with your Client ID and Client Secret to finalize the API configuration for Verity practice quizzes.
